A lovely local restaurant that serves fresh seafoods. You just know the food is great when the locals gather here comes dinner time (~7-8pm).
As there’s just two of us, we asked for the smallest crab…though it was still huge (see pics). It was very fresh and delicious - you can taste the sweetness of the crab meat without any seasoning. The head was loaded with crab meat pate, great with some toasted bread (you need to ask for some).
We also tried one of their local delicacies: Goose barnacles…and the best way to describe its taste according to the waitress is ‘it tastes like the SEA’ which is kind of a good way to put it. We’re glad that we tried it but it’s not for us. You can order a small plate (~100g) to try. Both the goose barnacles and crab were served cold.
I don’t remember the name of the mixed seafood fry up but it’s what many people come here for. They’re usually served with chips but you can ask for plain rice instead. Again, very fresh mixed seafood with rich flavours, fantastic with the freshly chopped coriander on top. A squeeze of lemon elevates the taste of the dish. It’s a must try, simply Yum! This dish serves two.

Read moreReading the other reviews I can’t help but wonder if I caught them on a bad night. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you don’t speak Portuguese. I went on Sunday night around 9pm and waited briefly for a table. Was seated inside and not given any menu, luckily I had checked online. The waiter serving me didn’t speak any English, so I tried to order prawns using google translate (without a menu) and she struggled. The local sitting next to me noticed the struggle and ordered for me what were the most tasteless boiled prawns and cold chips. I then ordered garlic prawns after asking the table next to me for a menu, and these were okay. Soaked in oil and full garlic cloves. Service was horrid, slow, everyone around me was noticeably frustrated with service too. Overall, there’s better places to get tasty Portuguese food that...
Read moreThis is a “must go” for any seafood lover. The service is really good, everybody super helpful and nice. We didn’t know what to order so we asked for some recommendations, we end up having the most amazing meal in ages. Our waiter chose all the food and the wine for us (we only told him we would like to eat seafood, fried fish and vinho verde).
The price for all what we had really cheap, we were so full, that we asked to have the dessert (the pudding was looking delicious and we couldn’t say no to it) to go.
Important to know, we arrived on a Friday at 19.00 without a booking and we got a table right away, 20’ after it was full the restaurant and a line of people waiting for a place.
Is a place that we would love to come back again before we are...
