Velho Kurika - Restaurante & Cervejaria — Restaurant in Almada

Hunting for a local restaurant away from the tourist spots is always a mix of fun and challenge, especially when the stomach starts growling. Still, that is usually where the authentic flavors hide, and this time Google Maps led us to a really good one.

We ordered Caril de Gambas and Bitoque na Frigideira. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The sauce from the Bitoque was so good I kept sneaking extra tastes, while the prawn curry had a bold kick. They seemed to use curry powder, which I do not usually love, but in this dish it came together really well. Prices were 2/3€ cheaper than the touristic spots as well.

The place was buzzing with locals, which is always a promising sign. The staff did not speak much English, yet with an English menu and some confident finger pointing, ordering was easy. Everyone was friendly, and the atmosphere felt genuinely local and welcoming.

stumbled upon this place after walking around the shoreline artspaces, we had been looking for some real homemade Portuguese cooking and that’s just what we found! the owner of the bar was the nicest most hospitable person ever. we ordered the arroz de Gambas and it was 10/10. Tasted like my grandmothers. Also got the steak and shrimp with mushrooms, and the cuttlefish and chips. Definitely worth stopping by, very sweet...

Pedi comida pela Glovo. Escolhi a partir do menu apresentado o que estava disponível online, mas ao fim de 10 minutos/ um quarto de hora, telefonam-me do restaurante a dizer que um dos pratos tinha acabado. O senhor, que cálculo ser o dono, queria impor-me a compensação que ele entendia, e de forma rude, respondeu-me "Eu não sei trabalhar bem com a plataforma e não retirei o produto a tempo, e aqui o senhor não manda nada". Mandei-o cancelar a refeição, pois já a tinha pago com cartão de crédito. Foi cancelada ao fim de algum tempo. Não volto a encomendar lá, nem espero lá voltar. Primeiro, eu é que pago, eu é que mando. Quem paga (e já pagou antecipadamente), manda e a lei europeia é clara quanto a compensações por pagamento antecipado. Em segundo lugar, lá chegaremos ao dia em que em Portugal as empresas e os comerciantes, de todos os ramos, saibam o que significa "Apoio ao Cliente" e o que isso acarreta. Por último, quem não sabe estar nas plataformas online, ou aprende, ou não esteja nelas. Mostram ainda mais a sua incompetência e iliteracia digital.
