Granturino Steakhouse — Restaurant in Aveiro

We booked a table for 4 for New Year’s Eve. The reservation was made by phone for 19.30 but we got a call at 19.15 saying we had a table for 19 and confirming our place since we would have to leave by 8h45 due to the next sitting round. When we arrived we were immediately told there were several entries not available anymore. We choose our main dish. When asking for the drink, it was also not available (it was the only sangria of the menu and they said “they did not have maracujá”). One of us asked for a specific beer that was on the menu, it was not available anymore as well. We ended choosing something else. The service was good, depending on the people who were serving us. At some moments, we felt our presence was not welcomed there and there was a pressure to rush us to finish it all. At 9h10, we were still there and the restaurante was not full or with people waiting. The food was great, overall. The meat was amazing, the French fries were truly good and the drinks as well. However, for a New Years Eve reservation it disapponted me that so many options were lacking from the menu and the service was not fully amazing as it could have been. After consulting the restaurant, my girlfriend and I decided to go in. After climbing up, we waited for a staff member to approach us. Everyone looked at us, and one staff member who passed by with plates said "Good evening." Since he didn't tell us if we could sit down and no other staff member approached us, even though most of the tables were empty, we decided to sit down. As we began to sit, an attendant came over and repeatedly asked, "Can I help you?" in an arrogant tone. We said we were there for dinner, and she disdainfully said, "When it's like this, you need to wait for someone to tell you where you can sit. This table could have been reserved." I replied, "We waited and no one informed us of anything," to which she condescendingly responded, "You didn't wait."

An attendant like this is unjustifiable. We did wait, and she saw us, yet no one informed us of anything. It was a purely immature and arrogant attitude from someone who wants to feel superior and scold someone unnecessarily. It made me so outraged to be so poorly received in a restaurant in a city I'm visiting that I left...

We came here thinking it might be just okay. It it was so much better than that! Our waitress Victoria was perfect!! Attentive and respectful and very hard working. We feel she deserves a mention as she was quietly going about her work with a great attitude and not distracted by the young group of men that were having fun on their national holiday.
