Hotel Aveiro Palace — Hotel in Aveiro

Don't ask for a balcony room, they look beautiful but you will end up with no sleep! There was a concert right outside our room 106 on a Thursday night (so not just the weekends) the hotel didn't inform us this was happening, even though the event had been planned for some time. The hotel knowingly doesn't tell their guests because they know they wouldn't be able to sell those rooms and they believe the noise outside the hotel isn't their responsibility. The noise we incurred went on until 4.30am, we had a plan to go hiking the next day and were leaving early so it wasn't a case of just joining in for us! We did speak to the hotel staff at length, they know they have a problem with these rooms but don't believe its their responsibility to inform people about this - I find this attitude to customer service frustrating - if we had been informed, we would just have chosen a different room or different hotel. ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU MUST BOOK THIS HOTEL IN AVEIRO WHILE IN PORTUGAL!!!|This is simply the MOST BEAUTIFUL HOTEL we have ever stayed in. GORGEOUS amenities/ room/ breakfast and gracious personnel. I really can not say enough about the people who work there/MARCO/CELSO and MONICA. |There are just not enough words to express our gratitude and love for making us feel so welcome. AVEIRO is a must see town in Portugal with all the glamour of Europe. |A funny yet scary thing happened and MARCO and MONICA were there to help and calm me after my Husband got lost departing the dual exit parking area. He did not have the international phone so they called the rental company for tracking. Not available but had license nos. and they were getting ready to call the police but all ended well. |I could keep going but all I can truthfully say is STAY HERE FOR A MAGNIFICIENT EXPERIENCE .. |BTW this charming town is not in Rick Steves book so just venture out to see this gorgeous town...

Rooms are a bit small and the shower in some of them is quite small. We booked two of the same room and they were completely different sizes (I’m assuming this is because the building is older). There are no outlets in the bathroom. The hotel staff were very friendly and they were helpful but were honest that having repairs done to the room is difficult to get. One of our rooms the air conditioning did not work very well and her toilet wouldn’t flush because the top piece was loose and they couldn’t get anyone to come fix it. The front office staff did what they could but it was frustrating to have a toilet that you had to jiggle around the top piece for awhile to get to flush and a warm room.
