ANONIMO — Restaurant in Câmara de Lobos

Everything we ordered took ages to arrive, we're talking 1h30 the first time we visited and 1h45 the second time, as we decided to give them another chance. (Sunday and Thursday, respectively) As per the food, the starters really shine their way through the menu, however, and unfortunately, the pizzas are just not as good. There's virtually no vegetarian options which might be inconvenient for that one friend of the group. Personally, we didn't like service as we found the waiters nosy or perhaps just trying too hard to make up for the long waiting time. The restaurant itself is beautiful but it was too warm on both floors and the background music was very tacky and quite loud, which didn't match the concept of "authentic Italian". The food is amazing, the burrata salad is delicious and honestly one of the nicest salads I've ever had. Honestly I would recommend it on the food but the service really let the place down.

If you're into very over the top, overly friendly and uncomfortably familiar service then you might not mind it. But for us it came across as very aggressive and patronising. It felt like the waiter was trying to sell the place to us when we'd already ordered the food. He acted like we'd never eaten at a restaurant before. Repeatedly calling us "boss" and other nicknames, telling us over and over how much we were going to like the food before it had arrived. We had a brusqueta and a pizza, both were disgusting. The ingredients' quality was quite substandard. The sausage had a terrible cheap/plastic flavour that did not go well with the pizza. The tomato sauce base was as plain as it can be, which is quite hard to achieve. Only the dough was borderline acceptable. Frankly, I do not know how this place has more than 2 stars. Not even an Italian but a common pizza chain from almost anywhere in the world would taste better.
