Disappointing Dining Experience at Capricciosa Cascais
My recent visit to Capricciosa Cascais left me feeling underwhelmed and dissatisfied. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, it became evident that the experience was far from the authentic Italian culinary adventure I had hoped for.
The ambiance lacked the charm and warmth typically associated with genuine Italian eateries. Instead, I was met with a generic touristy atmosphere that failed to transport me to the romantic streets of Italy.
The menu was a collection of predictable Italian dishes, lacking any innovation or unique flair. It seemed like a mere compilation of the most commonly found dishes in tourist-oriented Italian restaurants. The lack of regional specialties or chef's specialties was disappointing, leaving me craving for an authentic taste of Italy.
The food itself was decent at best but certainly nothing extraordinary. The dishes felt average, with little attention to presentation or culinary finesse. The pasta lacked the al dente texture, and the pizza crust was disappointingly flat and flavorless.
Moreover, the service was lackluster and unenthusiastic, adding to the overall mediocre experience. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive, making the dining experience feel impersonal and detached.
While I attempted to find solace in the wine selection, even that fell short of expectations. The wine list seemed limited and unremarkable, lacking any exciting or standout options to complement the lackluster food.
Overall, Capricciosa Cascais presents itself as a basic, tourist-oriented Italian restaurant, failing to deliver the authentic and elevated dining experience one would expect. The lack of genuine Italian charm, uninspired menu, and indifferent service left me feeling unsatisfied and longing for an authentic Italian dining adventure. For those seeking a true taste of Italy, I would recommend exploring other restaurants in the area that offer a more genuine and...
Read moreSo, firstly, the food here was very good! The starters were very tasty and huge portions (so beware unless you're really hungry), and the pizzas we had were delicious. And if you have a table by the window facing the sea, the view is lovely. However... overall experience was soured by poor service. It wasn't that the staff were rude or inattentive, they just didn't seem at all organised. We ordered 2 "Port Tonic"s (like, a national drink in Portugal!) but about 10 minutes after, just two plain Tonic waters arrived. When we asked about the port element, we were told they didn't do that... Ok... so we asked to have a couple of gins to put in the tonic.... Another 10 mins passed until someone else came to check what we wanted... A further ten minutes passed until the gin arrived. At which point, we'd been sat down for almost 30 minutes with no drink and no food order taken... Eventually we ordered, and the starters arrived pretty promptly. But we weren't even half way through them when our pizzas turned up! The waiter tried to shove the (large, they're pizzas!) plates on our small table, pushing our starters out of the way. We asked for the pizza to be brought back in at least 10 minutes so we could finish our starters... just 5 minutes later the pizzas returned... we gave up! I can't see why the pizzas weren't requested from the kitchen until our starters had been finished - everyone needs a break after the first course and pizza doesn't take long to cook... Hopefully if you visit they won't have similar service issues. I'm afraid I won't be giving them a...
Read moreGot severe food poisoning and still finding mushrooms in my stool from the Gnocchi I ate. I visited on a Thursday on a slow day with two friends who visited me from Lithuania. initially we came just for drinks and to chat together as the restaurant is described to have a lounge area, but we were told we couldn't, until the waiter probably took a second look around and noticed the whole place was empty anyway, we were accepted on the condition we leave if the place gets full. We ended up having dinner there as hours went by, I ordered a gnocchi and my friend a pizza Margherita, the food came extremely quick (as in, oddly quick), the pizza I was told was okay, the gnocchi not so good, but I thought it would end at that.
A few hours later, I am home in extreme pain and unable to contain my stools, nausea and had a severe fever, which leads me to believe either the food was leftover and stale for a while or the products were not fresh.
Extremely disappointed, still in pain two days later, if you come here stick with the pizzas which are okay and dont touch the pastas, they are very...
