Hamburgueria Da Baixa — Restaurant in Covilhã

Avoid if you can. Went there because we had to grab a bite before going somewhere else and since it was the only thing near the station, we tried it. It is expensive for Portugal and what was even worse was that I asked for some mayonaise for my fries and got charged extra!!! On the menu, they have only two prices for beer, small or large but when we got the bill, dark beer is more expensive. We were asking for an explanation and the owner made fun of us, saying we were complaining over 20 cents. If your menu is not clear with the prices, of course I have the right to complain!!! Honestly, I would rather walk a bit more up the mountain and have a nice local meal than a tasteless burger where anything and everything comes at an extra charge. Oh and yes, they don't take non-Portuguese...

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Covilha. Loved the sauce they add with the burgers and potato (which also used to be crisp and hot). However, the last two times we went, we were disappointed, as everything was almost cold and not as tasty as it used to be in the beginning. Another issue was the atmosphere - there was no music or anything; it was silent and you could hear other guests talking, as well as they could hear us, which is awkward.
