Arrived at 2100 and there were people outside waiting for a table. This is the only reason I wanted to go in! Gave my to 'the man' and waited about 15 mins. Small menu but it's all you need. Mainly fresh fish, but also nice slabs of spare ribs if you fancy meat. Served with cornbread and potatoes, carrots. Receipt below for 2 people. We had the full portion of 12 sardines, salad, 1 litre of sparkling wine, and 2 coffees... €19.40 😉

Died and went to heaven and woke up here with a plate of delicious sardines and a carafe of red wine. Plain food, simple ingredients, heavenly tastes. Missing just one ingredient... my lovely wife. I will be back with my love in tow for the perfect meal. And all for a few euro... I almost dont want too many people to know about it...

Grato descubrimiento. Dimos con el sitio por casualidad. Se especializan en comida típica portuguesa a la brasa. Además nada más entrar ves que tienen en el mostrador toda la carne y el pescado que van a servir y se ve todo súper fresco. En nuestro caso pedimos medio plato de salmón, vino una rodaja y de acompañamiento patata zanahoria y repollo cocido a los que luego les puedes añadir un aliño de aceite que te traen que también sirve para el medio plato de costillas que pedimos, con sus patatas fritas, que no falten. El camarero súper atento y amable, además se molestó en aprender con nosotros alguna palabra más en español, muy amable. Para terminar pedimos 2 bolitas de helado que estaban buenísimas. Todo esto más una botella de agua 22€. Quedamos muy satisfechos porque al viajar en moto no solemos comer demasiado, con “medias” raciones tuvimos más que suficiente, pero a la gente de buen comer se puede ir a casa feliz con la barriga bien llena de buena comida y a buen precio.

Love it! Restaurant used by all Portuguese people, we were the only English family. The staff made a special effort to make us welcome and help us with orders. Food was awesome, we had veg soup,octopus for two and squid for two growing boys, veg, chips and potatoes, deserts, bottle of wine and soft drinks. The only disadvantage - no card payments - cash only. Highly recommend it. Thank you so much for making us part of the community. Sorry no photos too busy enjoying...

Food was delicious and dishes are generous. We ordered fish soup and grill cod fish. It was so good! Fish came with steam potatoes and a side of steam cabbage and carrot and they give you a sauce like chimichurri to pour on top of the vegetables or fish. Loved it! The only downside of the place is the wait time. You have to be in line before open and our second dish took an hour to be served. Probably will be better to be later not at the time of...

Found this restaurant by chance on a day trip to Espinho, we were lucky to grab a table as it was quite busy. Friendly and welcoming staff, we enjoyed delicious fish soup, generous portions of grilled sardines with plenty of fresh veg and a salad, a carafe of vino verde and a heavenly nata de ceu for dessert. All for a surprisingly small price, we would certainly recommend Casa Américo, be sure to take cash as they don't take cards or...
