The Traveller's Rest — Restaurant in Faro

The location for summer is perfect. It’s outside the airport (right as you come out of arrivals ). The food quality is good and reasonably priced. The variety - personally I would have a ‘salad option’ on the menu too. A nice light bite to eat in the heat. Atmosphere is good. Service is really hot and miss. One staff member was super friendly with a welcoming smile , the other staff member , gave me the feeling that they were doing me a massive favour serving me at the till. It’s not well explained - do you order at the till ? I’d expect more from an airport renowned for tourist who might be oblivious to customs here in Faro or tourist who are exhausted and can’t think straight after delayed or cancelled flights. I ordered a Caribbean Smoothie and was charged over 5 euro for it. The girl at the till asked a colleague to make it. He seemed annoyed about the request and I get the impression he was telling her not to take orders for them any more. I only noticed him pour some apple juice from a carton into the jug and some coconut milk. There was not the slightest hint of mango or even orange juice. I dont even think he used any ice because the whole thing tasted like a glass of warm frothy milk that was just about to turn sour. I took about two sips and left the rest behind. Travellers’Hell ! Lol Worse service in Algarve and on our last day. I feel stupid to have paid a breakfast there. We did not understand each other it’s ok, it happens, but there is no point showing so much irritation! When you work at the airport and you don’t understand English, that is a problem especially if you have no patience with customers who ask for information about what you sell and order you drinks and food you mistake.
