This place was about a 10-minute walk from where we were staying, all uphill, of course. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much it’s right next to what I think was a basketball court. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a lady who made us feel welcome straight away.
The menu wasn’t vast which I actually appreciated. It usually means more care goes into the dishes, making them extra special. What really drew me here was the orange, beetroot, and feta salad that lots of people had been posting about, so we both ordered one of those. My mum had a chorizo dish that you cook yourself at the table, along with a beer and coffee.
The lady helping us was amazing, friendly and open, and we had some good chats. I’d never had chorizo you cook yourself before, and I was a bit surprised by how high the flame got! Luckily, she took control and served it for us.
The salad was extraordinary. I’m sure you could try to replicate it back home in the UK, but without the same quality fresh ingredients, it wouldn’t come close to the real thing.
To finish, we shared a peanut mousse that was very rich and dense, definitely heavier than I expected. It was tasty, but I struggled a bit to finish it. Knowing it was our last meal before heading back to the UK, it felt like a perfect way to end our adventure. The view while eating was a...
Read moreWe had a great night at Entre amigos! Google said they were closed Saturdays, but we called and confirmed they were open. We do not speak Portuguese and their English was a bit broken, but the worker was very genuine and sweet and made a lot of effort- we even learned some portuguese and taught some english. The view of Funchal was AMAZING, we went close to sunset and watched the sky. The food was really great, we had the beetroot and orange salad, sweet potatoes chips, quesadillas and chocolate mousse. None of the food disappointed- the beetroot salad, chips and chocolate mousse really stood out. The prices and portions were very reasonable. I would recommend if you are looking for a chill restaurant with a view...
Read moreProbably one of the most hidden secrets of Madeira. First let me tell you about the view. Ok ok the neighborhood is not that pretty but the view....oh that view. I can’t decide if it is better during the day or at night time. During the day you have a clear view of part of the island. At night, you see the exactly same part but with all the lamps giving a je ne c’est quoi to your vacation. If you are here for some comments about the food let me tell that you can’t here enough about it. You will have to try it for yourself. Don’t expect the traditional dishes. Expect to go beyond paradise flavored food. At a low...
