I am absolutely thrilled to have experienced the culinary delights and vibrant atmosphere of Calixtos Beach Bar & Restaurant. This place is nothing short of a paradise! Overlooking a serene beach, this restaurant is a feast for not only your palate but also your eyes.

The view from the bar is beautiful as it sits above the beach. Very bohemian, relaxed and furnished with a beachcomber type decor.

I ordered two smoothies - a berry/strawberry one for my daughter and a mango-passionfruit based smoothie for me. Initially I was told they had no Berry smoothies left so I asked if we could have a smoothie made from some of the components of the Berry smoothie instead, and asked which fruits they had. I was told the smoothies are premixed /ready made and they had run out.

A few minutes later the staff then appeared with what looked like a dark Berry smoothie and explained they had found one for us.

I was seriously disappointed in both. The flavour was dull, flat and tasted old and it was full of sour broken passionfruit pips. There was nothing fresh about each of the smoothies which were 7 Euros 50 each. My daughter's smoothie had no strawberry sweetness, no flavour.

I wanted to complain but my daughter did not want to be embarrassed so I left three quarters of my smoothie, paid the bill and left.

Calixtos came highly recommended by a local. We made a reservation and arrived on time. Friendly and warm welcome. Many groups of ppl arrived just after us. Despite all these arrivals, staff dealt well with seating and were not phased. We had drinks and shared couvert and ordered our food from a lovely varied menu. We waited for an hour and had become so cold, we asked if our food would be served soon and when we were told they would be starting on our order next, we actually decided we would pay for what we'd had and leave. We then were told our food was coming, so we stayed and ate (now using blankets provided when we mentioned how cold we were), but left as soon as we had eaten our main course because despite having blankets to warm us up, we were too cold to stay any longer. The reason offered for the long delay was that the restaurant was so full. We will definitely give this restaurant another try and hope the very pleasant, professional and friendly staff might provide us with more prompt service. Wonderful...
