Berlim — Restaurant in Lagos

We had the Berlim Salad and the Burger. The salad came with some carrots, tomato, one olive and egg, some prawns and surimi strips. Nothing really special. The burger bun was cold, the industrial made patty was rubber like. Garnished with one lettuce leave, slice of tomatoe and cheese. One small plate of chips on the side. All very plain. I have been to Lagos many times but this restaurant is the worst one. Exceptional overpriced but low quality. Could be acceptable as a simple beach bar if the prices would be lower. There is no invoice (tax fraud?) and the waiter had the guts to keep the change as tip without asking. Avoid this place. This place was our favourite one in Lagos. It has delicious food for reasonable prices, a wonderful view over the dunes, the beach and the sea and the staff is great. The big advantage is that this bar is a little bit further down the beach from the city center so it is in a quiet area and is not run over by tourists. You can sit either outside at the terrace or inside, where you still have wonderful views out of the big windows. The people there are very friendly and welcoming and take the time for a laugh and a chat. We were visiting with our little baby and had a great time there. Bodenständige, preisgünstige Küche ohne großen Schnörkel, fangfrischer Fisch auf dem Tisch, herrlicher Blick auf den Atlantik und angenehmer Service: Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen! Das familiengeführte Restaurant ist wahrlich ein Segen für all jene, die das eher mittelprächtige und überteuerte Buffetangebot im Iberostar Selection satt haben. Wir waren während unseres Urlaubs insgesamt 8x Besuch und würden defintiv noch einige Male wiederkommen. Hervorzuheben ist der sympathisch fröhliche Inhaber des Restaurants, der gerne auch mit den Gästen witzelt ("hello my friend! Hope you are doing well! 😁"). Der Service bei den jüngeren Angestellten war unserem Eindruck nach zunächst ausbaufähig, wirkten teils unmotiviert. Das Eis taute mit mehr Besuchen auf, und es kamen interessante Gespräche mit dem Personal zustande. Publikum querbeet gemischt: Deutsche, Briten, Franzosen und auch Niederländer. Am Wochenende auch viele Einheimische zu Besuch. Persönliche empfehlen würden wir die gegrillten Fischspezialitaten, allen voran den Schwertfisch, Thunfisch und das Lachssteak sowie die Sardinen. Auch die Garnelenplatte für 17,50 ist klasse. Highlight bleibt der "Shellfish Rice" für 2 Personen mit Garnelen, Krebse und Muscheln (35 €), der aber am Vortag vorbestellt werden muss. Ansonsten vom Chef bzgl. aktuellem Fisch beraten lassen! Weinangebot sehr solide (empfehlung: Casa Mendes Rose) und recht preisgünstig. Hausgemachter Sangria nicht übel! Bei den Appetizern punktet das Brot, die dazu passende Sardinencreme und vor allem die auf Eis gelegten Austern direkt vom Fischer nebenan! Oliven sind passabel, haben wir aber schon besser gegessen. Fischsuppe gut, aber könnte noch Salz vertragen. Kritikpunkte findet man halt immer. Bei den Desserts nach den aktuellen Kuchen fragen, eignen sich zum Teilen (lemon cheese cake ist top!) Kurzum: ein tolles, schnörkelloses Fischrestaurant, vielleicht sogar das Beste an der Algarve. My friend, see you!
