I visited Portugal to see friends from Japan and went to lunch with friends/family. I was really impressed to find such a sophisticated sushi restaurant in this city so far from Japan.
Inside the restaurant: Very cool, the wood and cork based decor creates a very relaxed atmosphere. Some customers were couples or celebrating birthdays.
Service: They carefully explained each of the ingredients. We also had a small child with us and they were not only friendly but also flexible to accommodate children's sushi that was not on the menu.
Cuisine: All the sushi and dishes were delicious, but I especially liked the sardines and squid, which were arranged in a way that I have never experienced in Japan.
The sardines were seared over a charcoal fire to add aroma. In Japan, oily fish is sometimes seared to add aroma, but this was my first experience of searing sardines, and I enjoyed the fresh sardine meat and the good aroma of the charcoal fire. The squid was finely sliced and tenderized and sprinkled with Japanese shichimi (seven spices). The chunky tenderness and sweetness of the meat and the aroma of the shichimi were deeply flavored.
Surprisingly, both items seem to evoke an image of fishiness in Portugal, which makes the first customers hesitant to try them, but both were very tasty.
They also served kappa rolls for children, but they arranged them by slicing cucumbers into strips and wrapping them in them to enjoy the texture. Normally, this kind of arrangement is only available at high-end restaurants such as Ginza in Tokyo!
Of course, I recommend ordering any of the other sushi as they are all...
Read moreGood...yes, 🌟 I was skeptic about but after trying I understand why is known as the best Sushi Restaurant in the City 👌🏻 We were able to try dishes unusual from the conventional menus and the level of freshness is unbeatable. For the record, I used to live in Japan 🇯🇵 so I can say I know what I am talking about ... It is not the most affordable restaurant, you easily spend 100💶 per person. It's not a everyday restaurant to go but an ideal place to treat yourself and experience fish being prepared in another level. Try, you won't regret..there are plenty of options around, some more affordable so in the end it's up to you, but here you pay for a quality not easy to find...
Read moreProbably one of the absolute best Sushi joints I have been to in Portugal. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Fish was very high quality and the portions were the right size for sushi - sashimi. Rolls were also very tasty and creative. Rolls were on the more expensive side but how can complain when I just said they were the best I had tasted in Portugal?
The Pork Katsu was also one of the best I have had - very lightly fried not heavy at all - was a bit strange for it to come with French fries, but they were very tasty even if a bit odd on a Japanese dish.
I hope they open up in Cascais would be a...
