This is the worst cafe you can visit. I have been coming here everyday since it opened. Let me warn you, stay away for your own sake.
First day I asked for an espresso stayed a bit, the place was empty, the music was good and the barista was nice. I couldn't fathom what would happen next. Coffee stopped tasting the same in other places. But OK, this is a small adjustment, I can live with it.
Then you try the filter coffee and you're gone. No other V60 will feel quite the same and you're stuck coming in every day.
You're thinking "this is not too bad...", but it is.
The barista is too friendly, and a lot of people come here just because of the dude.
Fernando, the musician who makes terrariums. Linde, and Frankie the coolest red toy poodle. Carlos, the music teacher who builds bicycles. Ana, the lawyer with a big heart. Fábio, who has the secret identity of DJ Quesadilla.
And this isn't even half ! Barry and Niall both agree Lisbon is better than London just because of this place. Roman came all the way from the US and got hooked faster than you can say "One cold brew please, nitro." And let's not forget Tom, who comes in with the chillest and coolest vibe, and leaves with a smile and a takeaway cup.
Don't even get me started on the staff. Marie, barista, opera singer, awesome. Juan, chef, coffee connoisseur, and amazing. Manuel, barista and hobby hoarder, unafraid of breaking the comfort zone. I could also go on about Tiago and Maira, the owners, and little Sofia who will be serving espressos in no time. But you got the idea by now: those 3 give this place a heart and soul.
Everyone else?
I've seen people come in and the weirdest thing happens. They have an espresso, and before finishing it, ask for the wifi password. Not a minute goes by and they're cancelling flights and looking for a place to rent in the neighbourhood.
They then find out about Malabarista and Milkees and end up having to take turns going around!
So, for your sake, stay away. There's a Starbucks down the road in Rossio, go there. Or to any roadside pastry shop, ask for a bica, talk with your friends how it's a burnt, bitter espresso. Then you'll go back home tell your friends "yeah Lisbon was great but the coffee here is better".
You'll be happy living in the ignorant bliss of not having tried the best café in Lisbon. And I'll be happy if I don't have to wake up early to get a table...

Speaking about coffee - it ia great, I struggled to find a specialty coffee place in Lisbon for the short period I was there, but once I found out How About Coffee I knew where to go for a good cup. Don't miss out on the breakfast, my recommendations are the salmon sandwich with a poached egg, the toast with eggs, spinach, mushrooms and creme cheese and the yogurt with fruits. You won't regret it. The staff is polite, they speak English and are great at what they do....
