I was a bit doubtful to leave this review because places like this, once they get widely known will always be fully booked. However, I think sharing is always good, especially when it comes to food... What a hidden gem! This Mexican restaurant truly blew us away, we felt so lucky to stumble upon it and decide to dine there. The whole experience was reminiscent of a Michelin-starred restaurant, but with fair and honest prices. The chef personally came to our table to introduce his dishes, which blend modern Mexican cuisine with international influences, especially from Peru and Japan. Every plate was a work of art, not just visually stunning but bursting with incredible flavor. The space is small but beautifully designed, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The owner’s passion and deep knowledge really shine through. Plus, they serve tap water to every table, something that restaurants here in Portugal don't usually do. Oh, and the cocktails are AMAZING! I can’t...

Maíz do Mar is a vibrant new gastro bistro that brings an exciting twist to the local culinary scene. It is the only place in town where you can experience authentic Mexican cuisine elevated by European finesse. The chef, who recently arrived after many years of honing his craft in some of London's finest restaurants, has developed a unique style that fuses the bold, colorful flavors of Mexico with the elegance and refinement of European gastronomy. The result? Dishes that are not only incredibly tasty but also beautifully crafted — a true feast for the senses. Maíz do Mar invites you on a journey where every bite tells a story of passion, heritage,...

Sometimes luck is with you and it certainly was when maiz do mar popped up in our google search. From the moment we walked in till the final pictures with Rodrigo, Gonzalo and the staff, our dinner at maiz do mar was an experience hard to capture in words.

If life is a collection of moments, this is one that will stand out. Food where the chef’s passion is forefront shared with friends in a space where it all feels like family coming together.

We ordered the entire menu and shared family style which I highly recommend!

Sorry only 1 picture of the team who made the amazing food and created the inviting...

It was a very unique find in the streets of Lisbon. A gourmet with a little bit of trattoria style of experience. We were lucky because we ate something out of the menu. They had a head of grouper served in a unique way. Tortillas with fresh veggies and pieces of fish were the way to eat it. We were tought how to do it by the chef himself. This was a supreme servicing. The head was split in half and served in two plates marinated in special sauce. It was something we had never tried before. The cocktails were unique and interesting. I totally recommend anyone visiting Lisbon to make a reservation and eat there.

Modern Mexican reimagined! A gem of Mexican food serving unique plates inspired by personal stories that touch your heart and activate the salivators. 🤤 We had a group dinner and tried out half of the menu sharing dishes which turned into a beautiful tasting. Dishes ranging from fresh & zesty to rich flavours were perfectly balanced and got us asking for more. The presentation was on another level, every dish was perfectly crafted and assembled with greatest attention to detail by the chef & founder Rodrigo. Finally, the cocktails were also composed by the chef himself! We loved it, highly recommend
