Katana Sushi santos — Restaurant in Lisbon

I’m very particular about picking sushi places, you can even call me a sushi snob. But it happens when you live far away from the ocean in central europe and miss the ocean on a daily basis!

What Katana has to offer is not just great quality sushi but also an overall warm and great experience with friendly staff who also want you to experience what they know is on their best to offer.

So let’s start with the food, they have a default sushi menu, Base - rice is fresh, gummy to touch and not over compacted. Perfect amount of rice for the portion of fish. Fish - being in Portugal you can’t go wrong right? Well not really. In this case, the fish was fresh (no smell at all) and the cuts were sashimi grade. All in all a fine neighbourhood high quality sushi joint at a super friendly price. Now comes their competitive creative side: you must have their signature entrees… really sacrifice some default sushi and go for their: Katana Taco (yeeeesss) Velvet Tartar (don’t miss this one out)

Add to this, a local and friendly in house team!

And to end it with brigadeiros (Brazilian style chocolate fudge) with an Asian twist?!

In conclusion what sets Katana sushi at this high level for me is that it is not a high end trendy restaurant looking to seek the perfect sushi combo at an exuberant price. But a local friendly bistro style place for sushi lovers to enjoy nice quality sushi and walk out on a satisfied stomach and a smile on your face! Big thanks to the friendly staff!

I never write reviews but I am so impressed with the quality and service of this restaurant. I placed an order on Uber Eats for a few portions of sashimi. The restaurant called me back to say they were out of one of the items and asked now they could replace it. I suggested a substitution and my order arrived intact and fresh as always, with my substitution AND a ton more sashimi as a gift for the inconvenience. What great customer care! This place is a true gem. All the proposes they serve are genuinely good and some ingredient combinations quite particular. It's not the average sushi restaurant, they only have a la carte menu, so no all you can eat option, but they offer nice and complete tasting combo menus. We found the taco pretty intriguing as a concept (other than very tasty) and the quality of uramaki, gunkans and sashimi was super good.
