Maritaca — Restaurant in Lisbon

Absolutely horrible experience with this place. First of all we had ordered it for a specific pick up time that was confirmed, when we arrive one ingredient was missing from one out of five pizzas so the owner went out on a twenty minute drive, while the other pizzas stood and got cold. So totally waiting from ordering was 40 minutes. At last we get the pizzas 68 euros for five pizzas! We asked twice if this could be true, and he said yes, and that you also pay for the box. He also added that it was worth the waiting time and we could come back if it wasn’t the best pizza ever. So we go home 4 min walk and when we open the boxes starving from a long day road-tripping just wanting food we get these cold “pizzas” that are more like a flatbread, super thin and with very little topping, we were still absolutely starving after eating the pizzas. As seen in the pictures it’s more like a flatbread, it is si thin it even has holes and the cheese some where melted through the dough onto the box and got stuck.

So we go back and complain as he told us to come back if there was anything. We wanted the money back to buy us some pizza that could actually satisfy our hunger, and he said he can’t give the money back but only give us more of his so called “pizza”.

Now we’re still starving and wasted 68 euros on cold flatbread with a slight amount of topping.

I do not recommend...

This is what every restaurant should strive to achieve!

The food is delicious and fresh, and the choices are unique and different. The "pannacota" is out of this world - simply a must. The prices are also phenomenal. We ordered an appetizer, two medium pizzas, two large drinks, and four desserts for only €72!

The service is just about the best I've ever seen. The waiter (who was also the owner) was extremely friendly, and we even struck up a conversation with him. Having a waiter who enjoyed his job regardless of tips was a welcome change. I must advise, however, that I am fluent in Portuguese, and so I'm not sure how well they handle English speakers. The menu was in Portuguese, but they also might have an English menu.

The atmosphere is quaint and relaxing while still being modern. Some of the tables have sofas, but most have normal chairs. The restaurant was only about half full when we ate, but it was also late at night, so that might not be an accurate representation of how crowded the location can get.

THE WORST PIZZA EXPERIENCE IN LISBON We called and ordered five pizzas 20 minutes before we got there, and they said that the pizzas would be ready by the time we got there. Then after the 20 minutes, we went to pick up the pizzas and only four of them were ready. Because apparently there were missing some of the ingredients to make the other pizza, just a reminder there shouldn’t be MISSING ingredients when you work at a restaurant. Then the owner himself went to buy the missing ingredient, that took 20 min don’t forget that the pizzas we’re getting cold while he went shopping for the, missing ingredients. So finally we got the pizzas after the long 40 minutes of waiting, we get home and are excited to eat after a long day, we open the boxes and one of them has a hole in it and honestly it just looks like a flatbread with a tiny bit of toppings on it. And if that isn’t enough they were overpriced and the boxes costed 2 euro. In total the five pizzas...
