O Tapas — Restaurant in Lisbon

I recommend everyone to eat once at this little restaurant in the centre of Lissabon. Authentic little place with no big fuss and no tourists, but the food is perfect for a quick little bite and the service is 10/10. The owner (older man) does almost everything himself and is really kind and thoughtful. Doesn't speak English that well, but really tried to speak with us and understand us. When I didn't know what I really wanted to eat he came with a plate with a few freshly caught fish (which we thought he just caught himself), and asked if he could prepare maybe one of those. He grilled for me a whole dorade which I only paid €12 euros for! Most of the dishes come with basic fries or potatoes so don't expect too much on the side, but the quality of the main ingredients (fish/meat) is good and...

If you’re looking to experience real, homemade Portuguese food, this little restaurant is a treasure. The menu is small which usually means one thing: everything is freshly prepared. And you can absolutely taste it. Every dish is full of flavor, made with care and love, just like in a traditional Portuguese home kitchen.

The place itself is simple but full of charm, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The owner puts his heart into every plate and even though he speaks very little English, his smile says it all. Don’t expect fancy service, but expect food that warms your soul.

We spent a month in Portugal, started with a restaurant like this and finished with the same style.....loved it.

The food is basic but tasty. We had the veal and pork medallions with sauce and fries. A typical Portugese meal and oh so good. Neighbouring table had a grilled fish. Looked beautiful.

Prices are great. House red or white 8€ and eminently drinkable. Don't forget a digestif to finish. Limited options but we got a generous pour of Cointreau for 2€. So of course we had another!

The owner/chef/bartender/waiter/dishwasher comes across a little rough but a really nice guy who will joke with you. Don't let the negative comments affect...
