Write up on food truck Pita .gr with Chef Thassos and his better half Cynthia @ Praça, Lgo da Princesa, 1400-038 Lisbon Portugal that serves great Greek food in open park close to river front!
It's Saturday afternoon .
A long metro ride from Lumiar , where I stay in Lisbon to Belham was to specifically enjoy the experience of eating fresh greek food served by Ms Cynthia and her husband Chef Mr Thassos Bampalkis ,from their cute food truck Pita Gr in the well paved , open quadrangle with comfortable settings under the shade of green trees adjacent to Lgo da Princesa Road and TV Arco da Torre road .
We picked up the following food ,drink and dessert.
Pita wraps, spanakopita, cheesecake, orange cake, baklava and a Greek beer .
The above items covers almost most items ,on thier menu list and it set us back for 4 adults and a kid of 4 by only just 60 Euros .
It was not just the wonderful tasty food we enjoyed from this truck, but the ride itself by part metro and partly in modern Funicular vestibuled electric tram that runs on the same track as the vintage trams in Belham.!
Friends, if you are travelling in Lisbon don't ever give this food truck Pita Gr of Cynthia and Chef Thassos Bampalkis a miss !

Read moreSo I am Greek and this is a decent effort to replicate Greek food, but definitely not authentic and too pricey considering it's a canteen and not an actual store.
I've seen this canteen being mentioned in various Facebook groups for Greeks in Portugal and, as I learned that the owner of this canteen is Greek, I had my hopes up. Well, the owner was not there and the employees barely spoke English (they were struggling to even take orders correctly).
If you're Greek and you are really missing home, then this might be worth it to try once. If you're a foreigner, please know that there are not many Greeks in Portugal (around 1,000 Greek people in the whole country as far as I read on the Internet) and our cultures are not interconnected so there's no good reason you should be able to find decent Greek food in Portugal. Similarly, don't go to Greece looking for Portuguese food, -we don't have any that's decent.
There are 2 undoubtedly good things about this canteen; souvlaki size and beer. Let me explain; the portion sizes are very decent (bigger souvlaki than almost everything I've tried in Greece) the canteen sells Mythos beer for 2 EUR (not my preferred Greek beer but you don't find Mythos easily in Portugal -if at all- and they could easily charge more, but they don't so that's a...
Read moreWe have been regular clients for a couple of years and food is always fresh. The couple downsides that separates this food truck from being great to over the top is that the fries don’t have salt and they only accept cash. We have been allowed to pay with MBway on several occasions, but they change their minds, and then on other occasions is cash only. It’s an in inconvenience nowadays because nearby ATMs don’t always have cash… It’s definitely a loss in sales and the employees don’t recognize regular customers. Edit: the business ignores the fact that it’s an inconvenience to demand cash only. Not that they need the business, but it’s the last time my family and I go there. Ask your employee from today at 4:30 pm. I made a request that was so basic considering myself a loyal client but I had ran out of cash and I was told flat out, no after I had made a purchase. I had a back injury that made it painful to go...
