We have been visiting this place every time we come to Parque das nações, because my son really liked the trains. Its always empty and often we are the only clients there. Recently visited for coffee and ice cream. The place was busy however there was a table where one older man sat, appearing to be waiting for something/someone. He kindly invited my 5 year old to sit there. The waitress came out and I wanted to give my order. She started embarrassing me in front of all the people in the cafe telling me how she can sell the ice cream but we have to leave because there is no room for us, she was even against my son seating at the table to which the older man invited him to! I nodded to one of the tables as people were done and were about to leave, and the waitress started speaking in a raised voice that it is reserved and all the tables are reserved and clients are coming in 15 minutes. I calmly explained that within that time we will be done as we are just there for ice cream. Forget the coffee at this point obviously and I wanted to leave as I am very upset but how can I explain this to a 5 year old? Anyway, they sent the train with the ice cream, while my son sat there eating it, the older man left the premises and also 2 other tables that were done. The patio was now empty, as every time we had gone there, nobody new came, and when I mentioned this to the other waitress, she had the nerve to tell me, "the people are running late". We took our time, probably 20 min total, paid and left. 10 min later we happened to pass by the cafe again, THERE WERE NO NEW CLIENTS. Hard to believe all the reservations decided to not show up at once. I regret this affects a child when all he wanted was to have dessert brought out on a train and was told he can't be served. I will never go there again as the two women working there have a bad attitude and are rude and the location is inconveniently in the middle of nowhere. There are 3 other...
Read moreCool concept, slightly let down by the food.
Starting with the obvious, if you like trains, you must visit, you will love it; as probably will your kids, if you have any. This review will most likely fit the general public better.
The concept is obviously very different and interesting. Definitely cool for someone who likes trains, kids or if you’re in the mood for something different. I mean, seeing your food arrive via toy train is objectively fun.
The downside is the food itself. Not necessarily that it’s bad (honestly both the burger and the ham and cheese toast I had were pretty good), but it’s pricey and the menu is extremely limited. It’s not going to blow you away.
The space itself is located in a nice area to explore if the weather allows and is nicely decorated, train related decoration of course. However, speaking of, the theme itself could have been taken further; more trains. Maybe the menus could have been train shaped, maybe the waiters could use conductor hats, maybe they should give discounts to kids if they brought something train related, etc. It has potential, and the kid appeal could be...
Read moreFun place for the whole family! We were visiting from the United States, and our son loves anything and everything trains, so this was a perfect fit for us. Very creative and enjoyable experience with the trains bringing out the food and napkins. The separate play area with trains and other toys is an excellent place for kids to run around and play while they eat. Perfect for lunch or an early dinner! The WC has a nice little changing table for babies, which came in handy for our youngest. Food quality and selection of entrees weren't the best, but considering it's a restaurant focused on kids and family, I can't complain. Most kids are such picky eaters anyways, the menu offers anything almost any kid would enjoy. Plenty of sweets to choose from! Perfect little place for tourists needing a quick place to entertain their kids for a...
