🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Taste of Lebanon in Lisbon! 🥙✨

I stumbled upon this Lebanese restaurant in Lisbon, and I'm convinced I've found a slice of culinary heaven. From the impeccable service to the falafel sandwich that redefines deliciousness, and the incredible vibes, this place deserves every star in the galaxy.

Let's start with the service - it's nothing short of extraordinary. The staff here possess a rare talent for making you feel like family, guiding you through the menu with warmth and expertise. Their passion for Lebanese cuisine is palpable and infectious.

But the real star here is the falafel sandwich. Brace yourself for a flavor explosion that will transport you straight to the bustling streets of Beirut. The falafel, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, is a work of art. It's lovingly cradled in warm, fluffy pita bread and adorned with the freshest vegetables and the creamiest tahini sauce. Each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes that leaves you craving more.

Now, let's talk about the vibes. The atmosphere here is like a warm embrace. It's the kind of place where you can lose track of time, savoring your meal while enjoying the relaxed, friendly ambiance. Whether you're dining solo, with friends, or with family, the vibes here make every visit feel like a special occasion.

In the heart of Lisbon, this Lebanese gem is a testament to the universal language of food. It doesn't matter if you're a die-hard fan of Lebanese cuisine or a curious explorer; this restaurant promises an experience that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.

So, if you're in Lisbon and craving a culinary adventure that's both soul-satisfying and vegetarian-friendly, look no further. Your taste buds will thank you, and your heart will find a new home at this remarkable Lebanese...

On a recent evening in Lisbon, my friend and I decided to change our plans spontaneously and try Sumaya Restaurant, a decision that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

From the moment we entered, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor, which blends traditional Mediterranean elements with modern design, immediately caught our eye and created a comfortable and elegant setting. The staff greeted us with genuine friendliness, making us feel like special guests.

Sumaya is renowned as one of the best Arab restaurants in Lisbon, and it truly lives up to its reputation. The food is expertly crafted to suit Portuguese audience while retaining rich, authentic flavors from the Levant. We sampled a variety of dishes, including sausage, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, falafel, and beef shawarma. Each dish was delicious and full of fresh, vibrant flavors. The beef kofta, our main course, was tender and perfectly seasoned, showcasing the chef's skill.

The restaurant was established by passionate entrepreneurs who aimed to bring the warm flavors of Arab hospitality to Lisbon. Their dedication to quality and authenticity is evident in every dish they serve, and their commitment to exceptional hospitality makes each visit memorable. They also offer halal options, ensuring everyone can enjoy their meals without concern.

I highly recommend Sumaya Restaurant for its outstanding food, high standards of cleanliness, and quality. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic Arab cuisine in Lisbon, and I especially recommend it to my fellow...

A Surprise Gem in Lisbon

Sometimes, the best culinary adventures start with a little bit of skepticism and a 20-minute walk led by your teenager.

My daughter picked Saumaya, nestled in a charming corner of Lisbon, and though we initially questioned the stroll, we’re so glad we listened to her impeccable instincts (and not our tired legs). The restaurant instantly set the tone with its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere—a mix of soft chatter, cozy lighting, and the subtle spice of promise in the air.

The bar impressed right off the bat, shaking up both fresh cocktails and refreshing non-alcoholic concoctions that kept everyone happy—mocktails for the little one, something with a kick for the grown-ups. Balance, after all.

While the menu leaned heavily into other proteins, chicken-lovers might feel a bit left out. That said, the Shishtouk—the lone chicken dish on the menu—was a hit. Paired with a halloumi salad we shared among the three of us, it turned out to be the perfect portion. Add a side of creamy hummus and crispy falafel and suddenly, we weren’t missing anything.

The food was flavorful, the staff friendly and attentive, and the experience one we’d happily repeat. Saumaya may not be the loudest name on the Lisbon food scene, but it speaks in warm, savory tones—and we’re still thinking about that falafel.

Family-approved. Daughter-endorsed....

This was not the restaurant we were planning on going to, but luckily we ended up here, and what a happy surprise. From the moment we entered, we were greeted warmly, and welcomed. We started with a lemonade, for my husband and the presentation alone merits a 10! Flavor was icing! Sweet and sticky. I had the fig and honey vodka drink, which again, wow! We ordered a couple of starters, one was the babaganoush, and I was so angry when I saw pomegranate seeds as garnish! I was like, here we go, giving me some gimmicky food that’s not authentic, and watered down version. Boy was I wrong! Best babaganoush I’ve had out of the Middle East!! It was tart, chunky, smoky, and super well balanced. My husband also ordered a flat bread type with beef as a starter that I forgot the name, but not the flavor. It was amazing. I had the chicken shish and my husband had the shawarma. We each had half of each other’s sandwich and I loved both. It’s hard to say which I preferred because each was unique. The smokiness of the shawarma was to die for. While the garlicky’ness of the chicken shish was off the charts. As for the restaurant, it’s super nice, and their attention to detail is wonderful, from plates, to decor, to staff. All wonderful. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Actually, it took me some years before I made it here after I spotted the location back in the days. Now I do know − shouldn't have waiting so long. Even when considering it is really not cheap, when it comes to price-value ratio it is okay. Coming from the street the first room opposite the bar occurs somewhat dark. Since I had seen pictures of a nice back yard I asked for a table out there and the waiter led us through a little maze of indoor rooms and outside areas until we arrived at the very end and got our table underneath a lofty roof of green plants. The menu has been ready to be scanned as QR-Code on the table, but before we made to it, it also was brought in paper form. It did offered a good variety of startes, dishes to share and main courses. Actually, it was a little hard to come to a decision since it sounded all really good and delicious. In the end it has been great and I gues it will be the same with other choices with a next visit. Specifically, we went for homemade lemonade, Fattoush, and Pita willed with melted Halloumi, lentil soup and Halloumi salad. To finish our meal we ordered Turkish coffee (black, hot and bitter as it has to be) together with some pieces of Bakklava. The "Sumaya" is clearly a recommendation.
