This hotel is very nice but how a few staff handle guests just makes me wonder about the numerous double standards here on how they treat guests. ||Before arrival, the emails correspondences have all been great, they even ask me to confirm my arrival which I responded and mentioned its just one person so you would think that they will give me a room with just one bed like I booked, but surprisingly, for a solo traveler staying for four nights, they actually gave me a room with two single beds. Why do I even bother to respond to your email to confirm about my booking details, only for you to deliver something else, right? ||Nonetheless the lady at the reception was wonderfully friendly though, and she was always all smiles on deck every time I see her. Location-wise, I like this as it is in a relatively calm and quiet area and since you need to walk alot in Lisbon anyway, the location is great as you can reach the city center and other nice hoods relatively easily. Just one to two blocks away, in opposing directions, you can also find many restaurants in two different parts of town. There is also a supermarket half a block away where you can get essentials like water. ||The room was beautifully decorated – you would think that the colors are too bright or off, but they work amazingly well. Bedding were very comfortable and I love the pillows they provided.||Mine was a corner room and it was huge! There is a small square table with a Nespresso machine and a huge selection of teabags replenish every day (except on my last day that housekeeping forgot to stock). There is also an one-off gin and tonic kit and that certainly made my afternoon! The beers and soft drinks in the fridge were also replenish daily and those were also complimentary. ||The bathroom area had a stainless steel sink in an open area, with separated toilet and shower stalls. Bath amenities are from cult Portugese soap brand Clause Porto and the scents were very nice. There is also a good hairdryer provided, alongside vanity kit, and a small tube of Portugese toothpaste (the toothpaste was one-off and not replenished on subsequent days). ||Somehow, I think that some staff here does tend to be friendlier and more professional in how they do their job - staff at the rooftop bar are amazing, one lady told us we can bring our own bottle in and she was so chill and cool on that, and on another day the two gentleman were so attentive and responsive to guests’ orders and billing requests.||Breakfast was included in my rate and the first morning happen to be a Sunday when a huge group came down at the same time, causing the under-staff restaurant to be overwhelmed. I joined another friend staying at the same hotel for breakfast and the staff just skipped me when he was going around taking orders and he approached other tables around me who were seated after me. Naturally, I was annoyed and I just approached him at the bar and told him to come take my orders when he is free and he got all defensive saying that he served others because 1) they called the restaurant before they came down (hmmm), and 2) he has a system where he goes in a circular manner taking orders from the tables in the dining room (then how can he miss me in the middle of that circling he was doing?). He just seems to be trying to get a free pass on his slackness. On my last morning, i met this staff again and as the crowd was tamer, he finally seemed to get his “circling approach” right as he asked me first this time round when he was doing his “circling tables” approach. ||Another reason on how I think staff has double standards was me requesting for a 1pm late check out instead of the standard 12pm so I can leave straight for the airport. The male staff who picked up my phone said he can only allow it till 12.30pm. I find that to be a very half-hearted response so I accepted it over the phone. In the end, I just left my room at 11-ish and left my bags with them while I went for lunch. However my friend managed to get a 1pm check out when she left two days earlier - maybe the hotel is bustling with new arrivals the Wednesday I was checking out that they MUST have already assigned my twin-bed room to other guests (who actually need two beds). Also note that Hyatt globalist do not get any special treatment here like late checkout or free breakfast (I did not even ask about this or brought this up with the hotel as I know that benefits are non-given at Mr and Mrs Smith hotels).||My conclusion is that if you want to get any Hyatt benefits, this hotel is not for you and in fact, I’m staying here just to get the brand badge under world of Hyatt. But this is a VERY GOOD hotel for the tourist who likes to explore the city on foot in a convenient location. For me, I will probably wait for Andaz to open and stay there in future, or stay further away at the Hyatt Regency if I am in town. If I want to choose an independent hotel, I think there’re many across Lisbon that are also...
Read moreI recently stayed at The Vintage Hotel in Lisbon with a friend to celebrate our 60th birthdays, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly responsive and accommodating from the moment we reached out for reservation details, setting the tone for a really positive stay. The hotel's location is perfect, just a short walk to Avenida da Liberdade, and about a 10-minute stroll of window shopping before you hit the charming Alfama neighborhood.
Our room was beautifully designed and very practical. There was a coffee maker stocked with plenty of pods, a refrigerator to keep milk and other snacks, and a table and chairs where we could enjoy light meals. The bar cart, complete with glasses, added a fun, elegant touch—we even mixed a few drinks ourselves! The hotel also made sure we had two jugs of filtered water each day, which was a nice, thoughtful detail.
The bathroom was laid out smartly, with frosted glass separating the toilet and shower for a bit of privacy, which we really appreciated. Towels were soft and generously sized, and they even provided fluffy robes and slippers, making everything feel a little more luxurious and so useful for going down to the spa (more on that to come)
One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the little surprises. When we arrived, we were greeted with a welcome gift: a small bottle of gin, tonic water, aromatics for making cocktails, and a jar of salted almonds. Every night, turndown service brought something new—shower bombs, scented washcloths, cookies, and even a small birthday cake with a bottle of port and a handwritten note for my friend’s birthday. These personal touches really made the stay extra special.
The rooftop bar was a highlight, with a great atmosphere, excellent drinks, and amazing views of the city. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring. The staff throughout the hotel were warm and helpful, always going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.
The hotel has a small but lovely pool, along with a sauna and steam room. It felt like a serene little oasis where we could unwind. The whole spa area was impeccably clean, and massages were available. You need to book ahead, but that meant it never felt crowded—just peaceful and relaxing. One of the standout gestures from the hotel was letting us store our bags after check-out so we could explore the city one last time, then being able to use the spa to shower and freshen up before heading to the airport, which made everything so much easier and stress-free.
In all, The Vintage Hotel exceeded our expectations. The thoughtful amenities, friendly service, and charming decor really made our birthday trip unforgettable. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious yet cozy...
Read moreDear "The Vintage" team! From August 27th to September 3rd we were very lucky to be guests in this fantastic hotel. Today, a few weeks later, on this cloudy November day, we are still very enthusiastic and touched by this stay and especially by this wonderful team and hotel. We look at the photos and benefit from this intense and happy time in Portugal. The fact that the architecture, the furnishings and the wonderful mid-century atmosphere of "The Vintage" is really extraordinary can easily be seen on numerous photos. But what really gives the hotel a heart and soul are the people who work there. From the first minute we felt warmly welcomed, the check-in went with a lot of laughter, good humor, valuable tips, fast and super professional. Nothing is too much for the employees, no question remains unanswered, nothing unturned, for example to organize a table in a popular restaurant. The breakfast team was just as motivated and attentive. This already made us look forward to another great day in the morning. In what we believe to be the most beautiful and private feeling rooftop bar in Lisbon, they were totally committed to finding a solution for everything and creating a nice place for all guests. The food & Beverage manager did a great job! The pulpo is incredibly delicious, we actually ate it every day :-) Not to forget the high-quality and well-mixed cocktails and the good advice on choosing. Our room was a dream, a corner room with a view of the cedar trees. Housekeeping always gave us a clean and inviting "home". We would like to inform the management of the following: You have a fantastic team and a wonderful hotel. So a lot done right! However, there is one thing that you urgently need to work on, which we would not like to leave unmentioned here, as we find that this has a significant impact on the well-being in the room: Please renovate the bathroom situation and create more privacy for your guests. Keyword glass door on the toilet. You surely know what we are talking about ;-) We could not remember all the names of the employees who were excellent, there would be too many. Nevertheless, some stayed in our memories: Ines from breakfast, Tania (she was apparently an intern and we loved her!) from reception and another receptionist, who we think was also called Ines and who organized a table for us in the coveted "Ponto final" restaurant. Many many thanks! We will definitely be back soon. All the best,...
