TOUTA — Restaurant in Lisbon

I have rarely been this disappointed with a dining experience at a restaurant of this level. This is not a “fine dining” restaurant. This is not a fusion restaurant. This is purely a potentially good idea, but really badly executed.

For 25€, I got served a chicken sandwich with cheap bread, and no sides whatsoever, that probably cost around 4€ to produce.

There was absolutely nothing Lebanese about this sandwich, which is the worst part. It was flavourless, and the chicken was badly breaded. Furthermore, I have realised in older photos that it seems that 4 pieces of sandwich are served per dish, we received 2 pieces.

The entrées did have some Lebanese dishes, but the baba ghanoush was the most unexciting baba ghanoush, just simply what you would expect of it, but not in a good way.

We ended up paying 111€ for 3 dishes and one entrée where everyone ended up completely disappointed.

We had an excellent dining experience last night at Touta. This is an elevated and loving take on Lebanese food in a beautiful setting (small details all around you, from your name on the table to the acorns dotting the place). Enjoyed a nice Tinto Lebanese wine - Ixsir - Batroun 2019 with our meal. Started with baba ghannouj, hommos with the bread basket. Moved on to the Bacalhau Harra - bringing the Portuguese love of salt cod to the menu. Amazing atmosphere. I loved every single corner of the restaurant. The details are super. I liked that the menu has not a long list of options. Right number and clearly explained. This is available only online. A paper version would be also appropriated for those who doesn’t want to have the phone in the hands around a table. Excellent quality of food. We ordered la fregola (high standard) and the pork (unfortunately was served cold but t was also wow!)
