Café Happy Swallows — Restaurant in Loulé

Happy cafe didn't turn out to be a happy one when I brought my mom there for lunch at our long stay in Quarteira. The owner was very busy working all alone at that moment, I guess that is why we couldn't even get a menu to see if it was worth waiting. After 15 min waiting on direct sun and sharing a table with another customer I've made the second attempt to get a menu however with the same result. After another 10 minutes of waiting mom suggested to look for another place for lunch. Once I let the busy owner know that we're leaving, his charming smile immediately disappeared and he charged €2 for the bottle of water we haven't even touched and for our wasted time. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Needless to say I never brought mom back. Called into Cafe Happy for lunch this afternoon, the Sangria was amazing. We both had the chicken which was very tasty this was accompanied with egg, rice, salad and fries. Really good value home cooked food. Would recommend. Returned to Happy Cafe in April and May, still a lovely place. Wow - cannot recommend enough. Went back twice. Family run - he's Portuguese, she's Brazilian, son waits tables - food was fantastic, family is a joy to engage with, just a wonderful experience.
