This really was an excellent find. Just a short distance from the main beach this was a lovely place to eat mixed grill fish cooked on a charcoal grill. The menu was for 2 people but there was fish to feed 4 or more... cooked to perfection. More than i could eat! Would definitely return. The only down side was the number of flies outside suggest you eat indoors. This place has a play area for kids and a pool and is right on the beach.

A Dismal Experience at Forte Novo - Steer Clear I recently dined at Forte Novo and was subjected to what can only be described as the nadir of restaurant service. This was not just a letdown; it was an ordeal. The service was a masterclass in negligence, with a team consisting of one server and one bus boy who seemed entirely unprepared for even a moderately busy evening. The failure began from the moment we were seated - at a table that hadn’t been cleaned. It took an agonizing 30 minutes just to receive menus, followed by another half-hour wait to place our drink orders, and yet another interminable 30 minutes for those drinks to arrive. When we inquired about ordering food, it felt as though we were imposing on the staff, who appeared both rushed and out of their depth, signaling a clear lack of training in both food service and hospitality principles. Every customer request seemed to be received as an inconvenience, further exacerbating the discomfort of our visit. Adding insult to injury was the ambiance - or lack thereof. The absence of music coupled with a location that, while proximate to the sea, offered views marred by unsightly wire fencing and overgrown shrubs. Such mismanagement of what could be an enviable location only deepened our disappointment. And then there was the food: overcooked, dry, and devoid of flavor, solidifying our resolve never to return. My advice to anyone considering a visit to Forte Novo is simple: avoid it at all costs. Opting for McDonald’s instead would not just be a better choice; it would be an upgrade. Don’t waste your time or money at this establishment.

I was whit my family and the food was good, but the guy who take order was very rude. He was a man over 50 years old, he spoke little English. He had a very bad attitude, he hurried us and towards the end we paid 35 euros more because he brought something alce than what we ordered. When I confronted him he was very rude and told me that's what I ordered and I have to pay. I had to insist on receiving the receipt and had to endure a very unprofessional attitude. Dressed in inappropriate clothes and smelling of cigarettes, he was not fit to communicate with customers. Shameful attitude does no credit to a restaurant. He and his colleagues argued very loudly in the kitchen, creating a very unpleasant atmosphere between the customers. Even though the food was good, because of the service and attitude of this "waiter", we will never go to this restaurant again.

Typical Portuguese beach bar, has a great garden with swimming pool open during the summer. Plenty of outside seating with kids swings and play area. Inside the restaurant hasnt changed since time began but they do a great churasco of typical Portuguese meat & fish dishes. Those looking for authentic Portuguese food should give it a try.

Nice food. Recommend the Grelhada mista (fish or meat). Each should be enough for 3 persons. There are also many other options to choose from. Live music during the summer outside. If it's too hot (and you don't like it) your best bet is to eat inside. During the summer there also a playground for kids and also a free pool for the kids.

If the weather is sunny and you have an afternoon to kill, this is the place to visit for lunch. The fish is great, the atmosphere relaxed but the service is slow, hence "having an afternoon to kill". I can recommend the mixed platter, there's enough fish to satisfy four people plus you get to try most of what's on the menu.
