Solar 25 — Restaurant in Machico

The "Solar 25" (Casa de Cha Tea House) in Machico is a TRUE but somewhat "hidden" gem on Madeira Island, Portugal. This absolutely delightful restaurant, located right next to a beautiful open aired garden, serves wonderfully delicious homemade food that is lovingly prepared with only the very finest of ingredients and the exquisite coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and desserts are THE very best way to start your day!!! It is a charming family owned and operated business by a very friendly and always welcoming husband (Jose) and wife (Theresa) team along with their two sons (Victor and Leonardo). Although it is virtually impossible for me to pick my all time favorite, the tomato soup accompanied with some sinfully delicious bread, followed by a homemade dessert and coffee is always a truly great choice!!! Lovely place for a drink and a snack. It was near the bus stop for Funchal so the first place we saw, but was an excellent choice. Really good prices €1.50 for a pot of tea for 1 person. We enjoyed it so much we popped in again before catching the bus back to Funchal. We had a scone which was really fresh....
