⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable gem — Avó Miquinhas If I could give more than five stars, I would. “Avó Miquinhas” isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a piece of Portugal’s soul served on a plate. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into your grandmother’s kitchen — warm, welcoming, and filled with the irresistible aroma of tradition. The food? Simply extraordinary. Every dish tastes like it was cooked with patience, love, and generations of knowledge. The ingredients are local and fresh, the flavors are authentic yet creative, and every bite feels like home. The bacalhau, tender and golden, melts in your mouth; the cozido, rich and comforting, could make anyone nostalgic — even if it’s your first time tasting it. But what truly sets Avó Miquinhas apart is the feeling. The staff treat you like family. There’s laughter, warmth, and genuine hospitality in every interaction. It’s a rare thing these days — to find a place that feeds your heart as much as it feeds your stomach. Whether you’re local or just visiting Portugal, Avó Miquinhas is the kind of place that stays with you. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your return. It’s not just a restaurant — it’s a love letter to Portuguese culture. Obrigada, Avó Miquinhas, for reminding us what real food and real hospitality taste like. ❤️

Absolutely loved our experience at Avó Miquinhas! The place is cozy and inviting, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We started with the couvert, which was simply fantastic—the bread tasted as if it had just come out of the oven, and the butter was exceptionally flavorful. As an appetizer, we chose the “Croquetes de Assado de Domingo,” which, accompanied by an impressive carrot ketchup, truly stole the show. For the main course, we opted for the “Arroz de Pato,” and it was definitely worth the wait. Rich in both flavor and texture, the dish was cooked to perfection, showcasing the care put into each meal. To finish, we had the cheesecake with red fruits—a generous slice that provided a delicious ending to a memorable meal. Highly recommend Avó Miquinhas for anyone looking for great food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere in Leça da Palmeira!

We booked a table for 5 for a Sunday evening. The staff was very friendly. We started with the Peixinhos da Horta which are like vegetable tempura, the slow cooked croquetes, pretty tasty with a very good sauce. And we also ordered their version of Caldo Verde, which was very good and a different take on a traditional dish. For mains, we had their paella with duck magret, the sirloin for 2 and their lamb, everything was delicious! The duck was the main star!! The loin could have been a tiny bit more medium rare. The lamb was extremely tender and tasty! To finish we ordered all their desserts, the cheesecake was pretty well made, not too dense not too light. The chocolate brownie was a bit too dense, but it balanced the flavors with the mango ice cream. And the caramelized pear with pumpkin seeds was surprisingly good as well. All in all good food and great service.

It's okay, but far from an excellent experience. The Google reviews are very high, so maybe we were just unlucky. All in all, it's the kind of restaurant I won't choose again or remember in a couple of months.

The space is new and has a calm atmosphere, which was nice. The service was standard—polite but a bit slow, with our order taking 30–40 minutes to arrive.

We ordered the arroz de pato (served with paella-style rice). The rice was just okay—not particularly good, with a high acidity that didn’t resemble traditional paella rice as described. The dish came with one duck breast, and while the rice contained a small amount of meat, the overall portion of protein wasn’t enough for an average party of two. I don’t think it should have been advertised as a dish for two in the first place. That said, the duck breast itself was well-cooked.

The price is slightly high but would have been reasonable if the food quality was better and the portions a bit...
