Had booked this hotel pretty much last minute with not a lot of available alternatives in the area. Location was fine as we had business meetings in the vicinity. The interior and style reminded me in some way of hotels in Poland and Ukraine in the 80ies, however there is a very nice staircase which you should use at least once instead of the elevator. Our room was one of the refurbished ones, so nice and clean, with clean bath, a bed for a good nights sleep and good a/c and wifi. We also have seen other rooms which were presenting the original style – would not want to stay there. Our room was looking into the small backyard, with balconies and laundry of the neighboured apartment building about 5m from the window. No idea if this is good or bad, because the alternative could be a room towards the street where the metro is stopping in front of the building, with all the noise coming with that. We had breakfast included, nothing special, with a choice of the usual basic breakfast stuff, every day the same. If you need parking, there is car park nearby, but on-street parking usually is available around the corner and free during night times. Another good thing is that all the local fish restaurants in the port are in walking distance. Certainly the best of all is the hotel staff, ever friendly and helpful. Bottom line – a close to average 3 star hotel with...
Read moreThis hotel was only 20 minutes from the airport by taxi. We chose it because we were starting the Camino on the coastal route the next day. Friendly and efficient staff checked us in and offered the 1st stamp for our Camino passport. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a good shower and we slept well. Breakfast was disappointing. There were not a lot of options and it was rather disorganised. We were down at 8am but there were no plates left for the food. The service was very slow and cutlery was missing and hard to find. This was a pity as the rest of our experience was good. However the price was reasonable and it served its purpose. For those doing the Camino - going out of the hotel and turning right puts you on the right path. We wandered around a bit before we found our way so I'm sharing that so others don't wander around...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights as we were attending an event locally. The hotel is lovely and clean, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. There was a good selection for breakfast including fresh fruit. The hotel is ideally situated for a walk to the lovely nearby beach. There are plenty of restaurants close by with many having fish as their speciality as Matosinhos is a fishing port.||Our room was well equipt including a fridge. It could be improved by providing hot drink making facilities in the room. Also the only mirror was in the bathroom and of no use if you've just had a shower.||Would definitely recommend this hotel and we would...
