Fuzelhas — Restaurant in Matosinhos

We went on a Monday (the not fresh fish day) it was fairly empty so we had the attention of the servers and a great view. unfortunately the sunset was not great that day, but even the view of the waves was spectacular!

We ordered the "grilled fish (45E/KG)" we had no idea how big it would be. It was a little on the pricey side but absolutely worth every penny!!! We got a English Sea bass which was recommended. It was taken apart by the CHEF at our table. He made us laugh by serving us the fish head and tail and saying "here is the best part." The fish was amazing and it was served with potatoes and cooked cabbage (I LOVED the cabbage). [I would not recommend this dish if you are squeamish about fish bones we had to pull a bunch out. The chef did take the large majority out. Just pick a different dish.] :)

Lastly they fed us Port at no extra cost. We paid and went to leave and they fed us more port and made us sit out on the balcony and watch the sea. An absolutely great experience!!! Would go back in a heartbeat!

Fuzelhas is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The ambiance is warm and inviting, but what truly made the night unforgettable was the exceptional service. Our waitress was, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever had—attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about making our experience perfect.

The food? Phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. You can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients and put real thought into their menu.

I was hoping to have an amazing sunday lunch with family here and it turn up that we were very disappointed. The food presentation was alright but there was not to much flavour. When I saw people reviews I had good expectations but to be honest, I am giving 3 star: for the view, the ambience and the staff. The food (which is the most important in a restaurant in my opinion) had basic flavours, didn't taste really fresh and it is too overpriced. When I go to a restaurant I am looking for a food explosion of flavours and not a nice view food picture so I believe the good name of the restaurant is its location and not the quality. There are better places...
