Swagat Nazare exceeded expectations in all areas of hospitality and cuisine! We chose this restaurant because of another excellent review, walked by it a few times, and finally had the opportunity to dine there. It is tucked away one block away from the beach. It was perfect for my husband, who eats everything, and for me who mostly eats vegetarian. We were greeted like family and chose to sit in the back room surrounded by glass so we could see all the happenings on the quiet little street. The decor was filled with earthy tones and accented in red. I was impressed with the tiniest details like the hand sewn baubles which weighed down the four corners of each table cloth. The entire atmosphere was clean, crisp, and fresh! Renovations took over a year. The food was well prepared and bursting with flavor. The culmination of spices in each dish was incredible. I actually asked if “mom” was in the kitchen preparing the food:) We shared a vegetable simosa, my husband had a lamb madras and I had veggie butter paneer, two kinds of naan, and jeera rice. We were so amazed at the flavors and the portions. We even took our leftovers home to savor the next day. The owner/chef, Pushpinder Sing, came out to meet us and talk with us. It really made us feel special and welcomed, plus we were so enthusiastic to “sing” his praises in person:) With our check came a dish of candied fennel which was refreshing to say the least! If our tastebuds weren’t awakened enough already, they certainly popped with excitement once again! Our waiter was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and eager to please. A fantastic experience in every way, excellent value, and one of the best Indian meals I have ever had which includes restaurants in New York and London! Thank...
Read moreFirst of all, the last thing we expected as a group of friends was to go to an Indian restaurant here at the portoguese coast but after reading one amazing review after another, even from people that live in London and claim that this Indian restaurant apparently has no equal, we all conclusively decided, that we must go there. They only negative feedback I have to make is that we had to wait 45 minutes for our food, even though the restaurant was basically empty. Once the food made it to our table and we took our first bite, we knew that we made the right choice. The flavours were incredible in every single dish but the star of the night was the garlic naan bread. Our waiter, unfortunately I forgot his name, was a bit shy in the beginning but he grew on us and we had a nice conversation right before we left. He gave us three indian rum on the house and we walked away full, happy and thankful. If you love indian food, you have to come here. The butter chicken in combination with the garlic...
