I'll start with the food which was OK; we both had seafood soup which was lukewarm at best and a bit bland. My prawns were very tasty, albeit totally overcooked. My husband had the octopus risotto, which he enjoyed. I asked for bread, which never arrived, but which would have cut the saltiness of the prawns somewhat.
Now, onto the service. When we arrived, there was a couple ahead of us that were seated outside, upon which the server returned inside. Despite us standing next to them, we were completely ignored until my husband went inside to ask for a table. We wereshownd inside and chose a table (besides the other couple, the place was completely deserted). We sat down and again ignored. A table of 4 came in and were seated. A female solo diner came in and was seated.
The tables started ordering, as did we, eventually. Food started coming out, of course not ours. The solo diner's second course came out, and our cold soup arrived; still no drinks. My husband asked after our drinks. Another table entered, and he got a table set up for them. My husband's beer arrived. Then my bottle of sparkling water made an appearance. Eventually, our food arrived. In the meantime, the server showed 3 other tables the door, despite the place being empty. Uncharacteristically, we decided to skip desserts and after-dinner drinks as the lack of service spoiled the mood for us, and we decided to go elsewhere.
Now, I get that 4 tables were perhaps beyond his ability to serve on his own. But not once did he smile, showed that he actually wanted anyone there or even pretended that he could give a damn. We were quite shocked, actually as we are used to nothing but excellent service in Portugal.
This is definitely one place we will be certain to give a miss in the future - and will advise our friends to do so as well.
To whoever owns this restaurant: from one hospitality professional to another - sometimes it's better to close for the night than to let the poor attitude of somebody who clearly resents being there, damage your reputation with such appaling service.
Apologies to the server if it's his restaurant, as I cannot imagine treating my own business' patrons with such disrespect. (Kudos to being attentive to the solo diner as solo's often have it worse than couples, but she got the best service of the evening, which really was...
Read moreNada mas llegar, buenas sensaciones: espacio agradable, buen ambiente y camarero amable y aparentemente atento.
Read moreA completely lucky decision to go here after our first choice team failed to turn up. We were first to arrive and had doubts, then a Scottish lady who happened to be a chef, walked up and told us of her late night meal three days beforehand. We listened, followed her guidance and went in. One lady was front of house, I suspect one but definitely not more than two in the kitchen, prepared our incredible food accompanied by a first class wine. Two of us had giant shrimps to start, with an utterly amazing source, followed by shrimp with rice for me and vegetarian mushroom risotto for my wife. All three dishes deserved 10/10 and the service whilst slower was first class. It is worth noting that we arrived at 19:10 and it was empty, by 20:00 it was 90% full. The only area that was not fabulous was the light, which needs a softer, more rustic approach but otherwise...
