Restaurante Casa Pires - A Sardinha — Restaurant in Nazaré

I had the Sardines with potato, and salad. My wife had the turkey steak with rice, steak, French fries, and fried, and supposed to be salad. She never received the salad, but I got mine. I asked the waiter why my wife never received her salad, he grabbed the menu and read off in Portuguese, and stated there was no salad, Then I turned the page, and in English it said salad. Then he changed his tune and stated that the salad I had was actually for the two of us. I told him that at the dozens of restaurants I've eaten at in Portugal, I've had salad served to me at that same silver oblong platter, and the platter was always for one person. As small as it was already. It was ridiculous to think that a platter of that size would be split in half. No one...

Pretty much the best meal we had in all of Portugal. The food... the sardines, of course, were amazing. The fish stew haunt's my dreams. It was one of the most unique and amazing dishes I've ever had. I've been raving about it to anyone who will listen since I visited.

Let me tell you though, the owner and the staff were the nicest people. We came close to closing and they let us in anyway. My kids were being difficult and they kept coming by to play with and distract our kids. They chatted with us and really made us feel at home. We stayed too late for taxis and they went above and beyond to help us home. We felt like part of the family. If you come to Nazare, you have to stop here....

Was really disappointed with the quality of the food, went to Nazare purposely to eat fish, so they served my wife squid that wasn't properly prepared, the squid still had the skin and was not clean still had pouchs of the ink that the squid uses to release in the water to protect themselves from predators, Then they bring to the table, cheese, bread and olives, kind of force selling, but we send it back, they should ask customers before hand if they desired the appetizers.
