I and three others just had an incredible dining experience at Theatro! It was recommended to us by another restaurant who knew that Theatro could accommodate one of our group member's gluten-free needs (due to celiac disease).
We sat in the patio-type area and enjoyed the warm sun. Eduardo is not only an owner but he also served us. He sat down at the table with us and walked through the gluten-free menu options, indicating which items were good to go, as is, and which ones could be modified to ensure a safe dining experience. He also provided assurances of the measures the restaurant undertakes to ensure there is no cross-contamination. Two of us had the braised chicken salad with parmesan and tartar sauce. We both agreed that it was one of the best-tasting and freshest salads we had ever eaten. The other two ordered the octopus with roasted potatoes and brochollini and rated their meals at 13 out of 10!
The entire dining experience was made so pleasant by Eduardo's attention to detail and concern for the dietary needs of our group. He was incredibly friendly and offered wonderful tips for our vacation. It made for a relaxing and enjoyable lunch - a wonderful introduction to Portugal for our guests! We plan on visiting again multiple times during this trip and highly...
Read moreWe booked online for 9 people (including 2 veggies 🌱) and got our table right on time, super convenient ✅.
👉 To start, we shared: Bombom Alheira (deep-fried bites of the traditional Portuguese sausage): crunchy and fun! Veal Tartare: smooth, well-seasoned, one of the highlights ✨. Vegetable Tempura: light and tasty.
👉 For mains we tried almost everything 😅: Codfish with cornbread crust (Bacalhau com Broa):good, but expected a bit more “wow” 🇵🇹. Tender Octopus: nicely grilled, though the broccoli side was a little plain 🐙. Black Pork Cheeks: rich, slow-cooked, very comforting 🐖. Veal Tournedos: perfectly cooked, juicy with a mushroom sauce 🍄. Shrimp Risotto: creamy and delicious 🍤. Mushroom Risotto (veggie): full of flavor, one of the best choices 🌱. Linguini with Pesto (veggie): decent, though the risotto outshone it.
We paired everything with refreshing white sangria🍹 and water.
💶 Final price: about 34€ per person (no dessert, we were full!) fair for the quality and variety. Great atmosphere, solid food, friendly service. Perfect if you want to explore Portuguese cuisine in a different setting. Would...
Read moreGreat dining off the main boulevard. The quality of the food and wines were top-notch, the setting this ll great due to the bookshelves all around. The service was amazing as well, we were never rushed and received great explanations about the food and wines.
For starters we had the gamba taco's and the Alheira (traditional game or poultry sausage) croquettes. They both tasted great and the Alheira croquettes are a great dish which showed a new way to serve a traditional dish. I found the taco a bit stale, but the combination with the gamba's a and sauce made a good starter as well. My wife did not agree on the taco's and probably could have had several more.
For the main course we chose for the veil and octopus, both popular dishes as mentioned by the team. Both dishes well executed as well. The veil was grilled well and side salad was worth eating, which was a first during our stay in Portugal. The octopus dish was balanced nicely with the spinach and adding a bit of oil and vinegar, it elevated the flavors greatly.
All in all we had an amazing evening due to the food, drinks and definitely the service. If you have the chance,...
