We visited this lovely café in Péniche twice, and both times it exceeded our expectations! We appreciated the diverse menu, which features a delightful selection of sweet and savory options, including sandwiches, crepes, waffles, cakes, and more. Everything is freshly prepared, and all the cakes and croissants are homemade. Everything we tried was delicious, and we highly recommend the salmon, avocado, and cheese croissant! The coffee was excellent as well! The ambiance is very nice, with gentle music playing in the background, and they have a spacious wooden terrace in front. A special thank you to the staff, who were friendly and professional during both visits. We felt warmly welcomed and truly appreciated the high-quality service and the big smiles. 🙂 Thank you for having us – well-deserved 5 stars!

The Java House Pastelaria is a great option for a quick bite. The toast tuna melt with egg is delicious and hearty, but could be improved with the addition of shredded carrot. The orange juice came with a big ice cube even though I asked for it without. The waffles and crepes here are both excellent, and they come with a spoon which is helpful for scooping up any melted ice cream or toppings. The ice cream is served up nicely, and there is a good selection of homemade pastries to choose from. However, eating some of the foods on the menu can leave your hands quite dirty, so it would be helpful if they gave out more proper napkins by default. The ones that are on the tables don't seem to clean very well.

The worst place in peniche. Illegal behavior!!! My friend and I ordered a beer and a coffee. When we asked the bill they refused to accept our credit card. We had no cash. So they told they can accept card payment cause they have to pay taxes if they do so. As we had no cash they ask us to leave our driving license (which is completely illegal!!!) until we find the way to withdraw cash (note that for doing it we have to pay a lot of fees). Awful experience. The girl on the desk tried to be polite though and called the owner WHO ASKED HER TO RETAIN OUR DRIVING LICENSE. Insane. In 2021 there are places trying to scam people this way

So they told they can accept card payment cause they have to pay taxes if they do so. As we had no cash they ask us to leave our driving license (which is completely illegal!!!) until we find the way to withdraw cash (note that for doing it we have to pay a lot of fees). Awful experience. The girl on the desk tried to be polite though and called the owner WHO ASKED HER TO RETAIN OUR DRIVING LICENSE. Insane. In 2021 there are places trying to scam people this way
