What a great surprise! We visit Alvor every year and stumbled upon this lovely place, so we decided to try our luck, on a busy Saturday dinner service. There was only one table available and from there everything kept getting better and better.
On the ground floor of the restaurant the deco style takes you back to your grandmother's house (traditional Portuguese house), from the furniture, to the light and the fragrances. On the first floor, they have a terrace, with the tables placed nicely, to enjoy the summer breeze and the natural light.
ATascado is a suited option for groups but always book ahead, particular if you want to enjoy your meal with a scenic view.
The food was delicious, cooked to perfection, balanced flavors and seasoning. The portions could be bigger for the starters, however the main dish was more than enough for one - the "açorda de camarão" was by far on of the best I've ever had! The shrimp 🍤 was so fresh and juicy, on point.
Additionally, the service was a delight: very friendly, polite, super attentive, offered relevant suggestions, teamwork...it made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Lastly, we had no room for desert unfortunately, which is a reason, added to all of the above, to return for a...
Read moreWent with a group of friends and had a pleasent night here. Starter prawns were tasty and a generous serve although as usual they were a messy eat. Water bowl or lemon cleanser would have helped. For the main I went the steak Portugese style. I was surprised that the waiter insisted that I could not add a side of vegetables. Reluctantly I chose the Portugese steak instead of a eye fillet with vegetables (my usual steak of choice). Sadly I was disappointed. The steak was ordered to be medium but came out medium well done (it tasted too firm for medium). It was in a thin watery gravy with thin slices of potatoe around the plate. Too thin to taste any potatoe. The steak had what appeared and tasted like thin ham on top. Nice. Although I didn't like the overall taste I have a least tried steak Portugese style. I won't be trying that style again on any future visits to Portugal including at this restaurant. Desserts were great. The rest of our group loved this restaurant so I must be getting fussy in my advancing years. Would I go again - you bet, but not for the Portugese steak - sorry Portugal, its just a...

Traditional Portuguese cuisine. The restaurant's decor is immaculate. The waiter is brilliant, as he offers specific choices from the menu.
Please ensure you come with an empty stomach though, the meal portions are huge!
Their signature dish of clams, is sensational. I have revisited this restaurant three times now. Every different dish I have tried, is spectacular in its taste and presentation. It's definitely not a place for 'a quick feed'. if your up for that, go to a pizzeria...
It's a top class restaurant, with style, a brilliant waiter and a superb chef. I'll be back, again...
