The Original & Real Indian Curry House! They recently rebranded (April 2022) still the same quality under the same management. Very delicious & authentic. This is the real & original Indian Curry House (please do not confuse it with an Indian restaurant around the corner next to a big bar, this is a complete different place, operated by different people) in Alvor. What a great place this is, great service, great food, great everything. The owner was also very patient with us as we did not have so much experience with Indian food. We followed his advice to order the house specialities, the Lababdar versions made either with Chicken, Lamb or Shrimp. You can also ask for how spicy you would like it (medium is very well in terms of being spicy, but if you go medium plus remember it does get spicier). The owner and his wife run this place, together with 2 cooks in the kitchen. They are so passionate about what they do, and that shows in everything. Also, hygiene is very well maintained here, with hand sanitising being provided and also they take special care to avoid direct hand contact with the plates and glasses as they put them on the table. Again, please be sure if you make the reservation that you go to the correct place, which is located on the main road M 531, this Indian Curry house is the real and authentic one. If not sure, please check carefully before you enter the restaurant, as the other Indian restaurant pretends they are the one where you made the booking (the real Indian Curry House Alvor is located as part of a white larger building). This couple deserves to have your business (I will post a picture also of the premises so that you can verify you go to the real Indian Curry House Alvor. As said, they recently rebranded to Mumbai Darbar, other than that, still the same...
Read morePlease don't confuse these guys with the Indian just up the street, just under the bridge as you walk towards the intermarché down hill into the town. This place is so good, the staff are extremely helpful and so attentive to the needs of the customer. The have a small kids menu but hey, all kids want are chicken nuggets or fish fingers! My wife took the liberty of asking the staff to make me a VERY spicy vindaloo which was so full of flavour but yet oh so spicy! This blew me away! To the average person it was inedible but this was exactly what I wanted. You could taste the flavour of every herb, seed, spice, all of it. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION! Anything we asked for was no trouble to the staff and when I went to compliment the chef he was so full of thanks and just so happy someone enjoyed his food. This is somewhere inplan to return to each and every time I come back to portugal!
Well done guys and keep up...
Read moreI’ve been here with a friend, I love Indian food and I saw a lot of good reviews for this restaurant, so we chose this one. The best thing we could ever done! The food is amazing, as the staff: I didn’t know the names of the dishes but I knew that I wanted something with coconut, so I asked to advice me some dishes with that and explain what’s inside. Everything went exactly as I expected, the chicken Korma that he advised was delicious! And they have a lot of vegetarian choices. This restaurant is very local and typical Indian, absolutely the perfect choice if you want to taste real Indian flavors!
Small advice: in the menu there are only the names of the dishes, not what’s inside; maybe a good improvement can be writing the ingredients under the plates! For example, if they have fruits, nuts, which kind of veggies, coconut, yogurt, cream, etc… anyway, if you are in doubt just ask, and they will...
