Stumbled across this place during our holiday to Praia da Rocha. The restaurant was completely empty while all other local restaurants had queues outside. We put that down to the location, it’s set back off the main strip in a small shopping centre so we gave it the benefit of the doubt and were hopeful for a good meal.
We had onion bhajis to start and to be fair they were really nice.
When our mains came it was a different story. The mains were brought out while we were still eating our starters, so felt very rushed.
Of three of us only I finished my meal, butter chicken which was fairly bland but edible.
My daughter ordered chicken korma and did not like it so ate the rice only and my husband had what he described as the worst curry he has ever had. It was meant to be a lamb madras but was very mild, which I can confirm after tasting. When he spoke to the waiter he was brought a small saucer of curry paste and advised to add this to the dish.
It did not improve, and a lot of water settled on the bottom of the plate - something I’ve only seen with frozen ready made curries.
My husband did not eat this and complained to the waiter again. They were happy to charge us for the full meal despite this. If it had been in the uk we would have refused to pay but as we are not familiar with the local rules/ laws we paid up and left very...

Myself, my Nan and Aunt went away for a short break and really fancied an Indian Take Out. I ordered 3 Chicken Jalfrezis, 3 vegetable pila rice, Prawn Pakoras, Onion Bajis, keema naan, Popadoms and a pickle tray. Being extremely hungry we rushed back to our hotel room to dish up only to be very disappointed. To start, the rice was just plain boiled, the jalfrazi was absolutely disgusting! No spice at all…Extremely salty, far too much garlic that over powered and the chicken was crumbly and minced into the sauce and was surrounded by water. I personally feel that this was microwaved and boxed up for us to take away. I have been to many countries and had Indian takeout food before as this is something myself and my family enjoy to do together, never have I ever experienced food like this before. However I will say that the prawn pakoras and onion bajis were edible…and in having ordering those more or less saved the night as it was the only thing we managed to eat. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this “restaurant” when choosing to visit the area again in the future. What was served to us was an insult to Indian food! Save your money, your time and your guts and don’t bother...
Read moreWe only found this hidden gem of a restaurant tucked away down a passageway in praia da rocha in the last few days of our holiday. The food, atmosphere and staff 1st class. We had poppadoms to start nicely fried not greasy accompanied by two dips a hot green chilli &a cooling yogurt raita. I had a fantastic fish curry with nan bread. My wife had lamb bhuna with pilaf rice. Everything arrive piping hot, and beautifully presented. The lamb was so tender you could cut it with a fork. My fish curry was very flavourful & spicy but not too hot. We were served by two lovely friendly girls who were very knowledgeable on the dishes, helping us with our choices. Make this a must on your next visit to praia da rocha as it will be for us. You will find the Royal tandoori on the right side of the road just up from the Jupiter hotel. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. The prices also very reasonable the best Indian restaurant we have been to in a long time. Highly...
