We have been twice to the restaurant during our recent stay in the Pestana Alvor South Beach hotel near-by. First the positives, the staff was both times really friendly and also efficient (it was mid-September, not peak season) and the location is of course very nice, with nice sunset and sea views. Regarding the key part of any restaurant, the food, our experience was mixed. The first time we had Octopus and grilles Seabream and both were good. However, the second time we had Pasta and again grilled fish, but the fish was partially raw inside. We told them about it and they brought a new one, where we found, that it was again only have grilled. We then did not try again, just shared the pasta, which was a bit over-cooked. When paying, they also mentioned that the chef said, the fish would have needed 3min more and they did not charge for the fish at all, which was a plus. But in the end, we would have prefered to have a grilled fish, as we initially expected.
So overall, the atmosphere and staff are really good, but due to the fish being twice not well grilled, but partially raw, we cannot give more than...
Read moreWe've been in the area for a week and this is hands down the worst restaurant we've ever been to. What's more, I'm sure it's one of the worst in all of Portugal.
Because it is an area with a lot of foreigners, the owner has a clear intention to scam. His objective is to scam foreigners by giving them JUNK quality products for GOLDEN prices.
Without going any further, we ordered 2 cappuccinos and some churros. Result: Each cappuccino €3.5: Tiny size, poorly served, medium cold. Churros: €7 for three units, bought in a frozen supermarket, poorly cooked, cold, the chocolate did not taste like chocolate, bad excessive sugar.
I hope this review helps to prevent more people from being ripped off, I really wish the owner would go bankrupt because he obviously has evil in trying to rip off everyone who goes...
Read moreAvoid at all costs. A pity since the restaurant as a great location for the guests staying at Pestana. Or anyone that wants to drive to the see side. Avoid this tourist trap. We went there on our first day since was so close we go a dry aquaculture sea bass 19€ and 2 pieces of octopus 24€ as a Portuguese I know this is not up to par of the standards you get in Algarve in terms of the quality of food and price. Papa Figos was on the menu for 34€ went it’s a wine that cost 6-10€ in any supermarket I understand that business needs to mark up the good they sell but should be reasonable. Payed 55€ and 10% service charge something I never payed in Algarve specially with bad food. Please AVOID. Nearby there’s many restaurants walking distance with better value for your...
