Windsurf Snack Bar Restaurante — Restaurant in Portimão

We had long avoided the Windsurf Snack Bar Restaurante, fearing it might be a typical tourist trap. However, our recent visit completely changed our perception. Nestled directly on Alvor beach, the restaurant offers a fantastic view of the ocean – particularly stunning at sunset.

The interior is warm, cozy, and inviting, with a pleasant, family-scale ambiance. The menu is reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of the food. The fresh fish display allows guests to choose their fish by weight – a nice touch that ensures both freshness and transparency. We enjoyed a delicious fish brochette and a perfectly filleted dorado, with every morsel carefully preserved by the attentive staff.

The service was excellent – professional yet friendly, patient, and genuinely good-hearted. Background music played softly, adding to the relaxed atmosphere.

With limited seating, it’s advisable to book in advance, especially during peak times. Our experience far surpassed expectations, and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Myself and my partner tried this restaurant yesterday and we were very disappointed. Being alvor residents we are familiar with all of the restaurants in the area. First of all I ordered a Mexican crepe which I couldn't eat. It was basically a badly cooked crepe filled with heinz baked beans (likely a cheaper brand). Tinned beans in a crepe - Utterly disgusting. My girlfriend asked for pasta neopolitana. She was disappointed too as it was just spaghetti covered in a bright red sugary sweet passata. Neither of us could make it through more than a couple of mouthfuls of our food. We hadn't intended on making a big deal of it, however when the head waiter came to ask us if we enjoyed our meal it was obvious we didn't, as our food was barely touched. Good menu from burgers to pasta dishes - nothing too fancy but well cooked and delicious. Good place to bring kids too but the big selling point was that it's right by the beach with a view of the ocean. The service was great but not fast, which didn't matter to us as we were enjoying a leisurely lunch in the shade during the hottest part of the day.
