Went here for Tapas - and the chance to have some vegetarian options as well as meat. Had a mix of the aubergine, asparagus tart, suckling pig bao buns and tuna tartare, with sweet potato fires.
Each dish hit the spot - the tuna was fabulous, notes of onion and tune with the lime coming through. Plenty for two and more than enough for one. Two more slices of toast would have been welcome, as I had to pile the tuna high on the four that came with it. First world problems.
The pork boa buns were fabulous. I'd be tempted to return and just order that twice.
The sweet potato fries were really, really great and were shared evenly between us. Sadly.
The asparagus/cheese tart was the standout vegetarian dish; excellent. The aubergine which was underwhelming. It needed more seasoning, better bread and maybe a flavoured sour cream. The asparagus tart rescued the meal though, very impressive.
Wine was fine - though I really need to learn more about the regions to make a better choice. There's a small range on offer by the glass, much wider range by the bottle.
Attentive, polite staff, great location, romantic with the occasional diversion of the "funny train" driving by with whooping holidaymakers providing entertainment.
Wine and friends really is a great little place to come for food - the mains looked inviting too, if you didn't want to go for tapas. Thoroughly...

A lovely little Tapas restaurant with a beautiful airy ambiance. There was a nice menu, but as this was early afternoon we decided to go easy ,I had a delicious toasted smoked salmon sandwich, while herself was more adventures and had the steak sandwich, equally delicious. To cap it all , and enlightened by a delightful waiter, we had a Gin Mare , a Mediterranean concoction of herbal extasy. A perfect way to spend a little time on a sunny afternoon in Portugal ...
Read moreI myself enjoyed the food to a certain degree but what I did not like was the fact that this place is suggested as gluten free friendly. We chose this restaurant on the basis that it was suggested as gluten free friendly on trip advisor but my partner did not have much of a choice. The fact they did not even have gluten free bread was a major let down and this is also looking past the servers impatience in regards to this. We are very understanding that cross contamination can occur quite easily but I would suggest at least try to make an effort to adhere to being gluten...
