We arrived just before 14:00h in hopes of catching a football match. The place was about 70% full. After being seated we waited 20 minutes before someone even came to take our orders. By then Portugal had scored and so had Korea. We then waited about 30 minutes before anything was served. First came a "Miroma style" grilled codfish. I failed to notice ANY difference from just regular Portuguese "lagareiro" codfish. Meaning, it was just a plain dish of grilled cod and plain boiled potatoes. No salad, no sides, no bread... Even the typical seasoning olive oil was scarce. There also two measly striped of red pepper. And I kid you not, it was the saltiest piece of food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I did not know you could or why would you even want to make red pepper that freaking salty. In contrast the cod had been so thoroughly desalinated it was almost tasteless. Before I proceeded with my meal I asked for some more olive oil to at least get some flavour other than salt and nothingness. It took three requests until someone finally brought it and it was also mediocre even coming in a plastic bag. I won't speak of the remaining three dishes that were asked by my friends but they all were exceptional in their own ways... we then asked for the check, not even bothering with desserts or coffee and had to remember them what we'd eaten. No records whatsoever of anything. By then the game was well into its second half. In the end it took us one hour and 25€ a meal to eat half hassed, untasty, overpriced, poorly cooked food. I can't recommend you enough not...
Read moreVery rude staff. Came here a year ago and enjoyed it enough (not the best, but not bad. Typically expensive for mediocre food (cozidos)) so we thought we would come again as we were in the area. What a mistake! Server was so rude we actually walked out before ordering.
She gave us a two-top in a near-empty restuarant, right beside another couple. It was very awkward, so we sat at the table next to it. Keep in mind the entire place was almost empty and it was 3 PM. Way past the lunch rush during low season. When the server saw we'd moved she scolded us like misbehaving children who couldn't count and told us we couldn't sit there because there were 3 place settings instead of 2. 😱 (Note: this table and the other are exactly the same size. Just one has an extra placemat squeezed onto it! They are both meant for only 2 people.)
I would understand this if it was very busy but it was dead. Only 4 or 5 tables in the entire place were taken. Am I supposed to believe you must have exactly the number of people as place settings or you can't eat there? What if this 3-person table was taken and another 3 people came in? They obviously can't sit at the 4 person tables cos there are only 3 of them! Oh no! It is such a stupid, unncessary rule in an empty restaurant, and the worst part was how she was so rude about it.
So congrats, you lost our business and we had recommended this place to visiting friends before but no more. We will recommend...
Read moreWhere to begin?...The room was practically empty and still, the service was terrible. The staff was really unpleasant, with no politness whasoever, as they seemed like robots with no emotions at all. We asked for cozido and the portion was extremly expensive for it's size. For those who haven't eaten cozido anywherelse before, they might think the portion is enough, but seriously..look it up. It is like half of a regular portion of any restaurant in Portugal that serves this dish (and for more than twice the price). The tuna was extremly dry, and don't let them fool you when they say that that fish is always dry, because it isn't (when they know how to cook it)! The vegetables were sadly bad, no colour and no taste at all. They don't even put table dressing, it's just a piece of paper like if you are in a fast food restaurant (while you are paying almost 30€ per person). The house wine is from Lisbon region, not even close to the Azores. They only had 2 deserts to choose from and it was still lunch time. We asked for the check and once more, the robot came and gave it to us, not even looking to our faces. Extremly unpleasant staff, really. As a portuguese costumer, it is really disappointing not being welcomed in our own country. If they want to be a touristic place...they have a LOT to improve. Otherwise, it is just a once-in-a-lifetime stop. The cozido was tasty, however. The bolos lêvedos were nice as...
