"A Pipa" Restaurant — Restaurant in Silves

We had a little run in with the staff at this restaurant who unfortunately neither spoke Portuguese, nor English. Surprising for a restaurant located in the middle of the Algarve, Portugal. The issue arose as my wife ordered lamb with mint sauce, and when the food arrived, the lamb did, but not the sauce. They had run out, but had mentioned nothing when we ordered. If you’ve never had lamb before, it would be the equivalent of ordering a Big Mac and getting it without the famous Big Mac sauce. The “manager” did attempt to provide some alternatives but failed to realize that this was not an us problem but rather a theirs. No satisfactory alternative was provided. I was hesitant to try anything related to cow/beef in this country. From Braga to Faro and from the Atlantic coast to the Spanish border: when you make the mistake of ordering steak you are served a piece of microwaved beeflike membrane that had been frozen solid since the ice age. This place is different! I ordered the Limbo (loin) and was served a steak cooked to perfection with a moist center and beautiful brown cover. No sauces needed for these amazing pieces of fresh meat. The owner is very impolite and unfriendly!! She was screaming without any reason on the employees in front of the guests!! The waiters are friendly and I felt sorry for them!

We ordered picanha and asked for the side dish, they said it was rice and beans. When the picanha arrived, they said it has no more picanha so 2 of us had to order something else.
