Restaurante Chinês kamkong — Restaurant in Silves

Thank you for almost sending me into anaphylactic shock.

I ask the waiter "Do any of these dished have milk, derivatives, lactose"

"No milk"

"Are you sure, anythin.."

"No milk"

"Perhaps you should check with the cook"

"Ok". Doesn't check anything.

From eating in other chinese restaurants in the area, I know what to look out for, so when the dishes are arriving I keep asking.

On one I eventually manage to say, before the waiter runs off again, cutting me off "butter". Now that rings a bell. Yes it has butter. Is it soy butter? Is it regular butter? It's butter, I am told.

And then she manages to say "You said milk, not butter" and go away

"Milk, derivatives, lactose" "It's serious" "Hospital" "At least check with the cook"

Staff could not care less. They had a good amount of movement, but there is a busy restaurant, which anyone can understand service will be different, and there is being treated like crap and almost sent to the hospital by sheer carelessness.

There are many other Chinese restaurants around in this area. I've tried several of them, and can confidently recommend any of them over this one. To be honest, the food is generally cheaper and of better quality. But it's the service in this one that'll make me not only step foot there again but also leave the warning for anyone else that might.

(btw, whole conversation with the waiter was in Portuguese, I just write here in English so anyone can read. Who knows if it's better to speak in PT or ENG to be better understood by the staff. I don't think it was a language problem, but one of not caring...

The location of the restaurant is pretty good since it is located around the center. The staff was also friendly and emitted a positive aura when walking around and serving. We had the 3 person set meal, and we were all very happy about the meal and the amount of food we had. I also had the additional steamed pork dumplings since I love steamed Chinese food. The pricing was very cheap in comparison to the other restaurants, especially given the amount of food we had. The only negative was when we were waiting for our desert to arrive. They seemed to have forgotten about us, and even when we called for them, it still took quite a while for the to make the simple...

The waitress who served us was lovely. She not only spoke excellent English (after we struggled with our Portuguese) but spoke Portuguese really well and of course her native tongue. The food took a little while to come out and when it did, I was slightly disappointed. We went for satay chicken skewers which had plenty of sauce but it lacked flavour. When our main came out it looked delicious. The lemon chicken only had a vague hint of lemon and the steak Cantonese style wasn’t spicy. It tasted a little like steak and gravy.
