O Cais Tapas Bar & Restaurante — Restaurant in Silves

I made a reservation for dinner at this restaurant a month in advance, specifically for their fado night, and the entire experience was a huge disappointment. When we arrived, there was no acknowledgment of our reservation at all. We had travelled over 40 minutes to get there and were only in Portugal for the weekend, so this night was meant to be a highlight — instead, it was anything but.

We politely asked the waitress for help, and her response was shockingly rude and dismissive. After much back and forth, she reluctantly seated us at a cramped, uncomfortable table, clearly annoyed that we’d even insisted on being accommodated. Once seated, we were completely ignored for 15 minutes. We tried three times to get her attention to place our order, and when she finally came over, she refused to take our food order, claiming the kitchen was too delayed — and then, unbelievably, blamed us for the delay, saying we had wasted time at the door.

Her attitude was not just unprofessional, it was downright hostile, and she left such a bad taste in our mouths that we ended up walking out without eating. This was supposed to be a special night, and it was completely ruined by the sheer disrespect and incompetence of the staff. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone — no matter how good the fado or food might be, it’s not worth being treated...

I had really been looking forward to celebrating my birthday at this restaurant — we booked a table for 6 via their email in advance, for their fado night which was confirmed, expecting a special evening. But from the moment we arrived, it was clear things were going to go badly. Front of house denied we ever made a booking, and even when I showed her my confirmation email, she was even more shockingly rude and unhelpful.

After some back and forth, we were finally squeezed into a tiny, uncomfortable table, only to then be completely ignored for 15 minutes. When we tried (multiple times) to order, the waitress finally came over — only to refuse to take our order, blaming us for delays in the kitchen and saying we’d “wasted time” at the door. That was the final straw.

What was supposed to be a memorable birthday dinner turned into an upsetting and frustrating experience. We ended up walking out, completely disheartened. I would never recommend this place to anyone — not for a birthday, not for a fado night, not...

Must have caught them on a bad night or something.

Was realy, but I mean REALY, looking forward to eat here again because it was awesome last time, but we found it a bit disapointing.

It took so long before the food arrived. Wasnt really busy (4 tables where occupied). And the manager came up after dinner make and apology. We didnt ask for this.

The meat, and that was topnotch last time, was dry and mediocre. The Cook unexpecticly came up but never realy spoke with us. So we felt like it was a way to expensive diner (€75+) for the quality we recieved.
