Restaurante Pérola do Arade — Restaurant in Silves

Came here as the canteen seemed to have good reviews….not sure how this could be described as good! Paid 14euro for a medium sized plate, included a small piece of fish, cold greasy chips and some watery tomato rice. Either I paid tourist rates or this place is robbery. And the food was terrible. Never again.

Update - in response to owners comment - it’s true that after I complained about the cost/quality ratio you agreed that you had overcharged me and refunded 3€. But you neglect to offer here that you did overcharge me for the meal.

Additionally, a local menu is approximately the same price as you charged for a single plate and you don’t offer a drink or desert nor coffee. In addition the food was served cold and the quality of the food was poor.

For these reasons I left a negative review.

Yes, I finished the food on my plate, what do you want to prove by stating that?! I ate the food because 1) I was hungry and 2) I’m not in a habit of wasting food.

The fact that I ate your cold food doesn’t make the food good. And trying to suggest that I am somehow responsible for you serving cold and greasy potatoes because I selected them is strange - how will I know until I have taken them and tried them?!

A suggestion for you - Instead of avoiding accepting responsibility for the problems my feedback raised and trying to make me look wrong - you could accept the food was substandard, as well that you overcharged me, and concentrate your efforts to make sure that your other customers have a better experience.

Incidentally, I appreciate your reply. And you can be sure that when a restaurant is good, I happily leave...

Superb vast choice of soups, hot and cold main dishes, desserts, and drinks. Self-service so you take what and how much you want - the price is related to the weight of good on your plate. Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable seating, quiet setting. This isn't a fancy restaurant - it's catering for people who don't want set menus and fixed (often too big) portions; for people who enjoy the best of Portuguese cuisine; all at very affordable prices. This is the place to take the family for any type of eating experience, whether quick snack, main dinner, or just coffee....
