If love was ever an ingredient in food, you will taste that in abundance here.
I can safely say that this is probably the BEST dining experience I've had in my many visits to Portugal and it's restaurants.
At its core, This place is all about the family that runs it. Three generations in one kitchen bringing food that warms the soul.
There is no menu here and none is needed. Just sit down and say you are hungry. Food will start appearing as they are prepared by either the son, mum or grandmother; who brings 70 years of experience in the kitchen to your table.
On my visit I had potatoes with salt fish which on appearance wasn't even worth taking a photo but one taste and the whole plate was gone in a blink. There was fried fish, pork with clams and the most airy, lightest souffle flan dessert... That I've only ever experienced in top Michelin restaurants. You can taste the freshness and quality of every ingredient, from heirloom tomatos used in their welcome salads to freshness of fish which I bet came off a boat in the morning.
And the price for this treat? Criminally low. Somehow cost of living and inflation haven't caught up here.
I can't recommend this place enough. Go there, sit down and enjoy decades of loving hospitality...
Read moreMy fiancé Adam and I just happened to be walking past and we were feeling hungry, I saw the menu outside and the interior looked authentic and relaxed. We popped in and João and his family made us feel very welcome. The restaurant is a local restaurant and very authentically Portuguese. The menu changes daily as it's based on what's fresh in the market, the meals are true home cooking. We both had the chicken with onions, salad and chips, followed by a vanilla home made cake. It was all delicious. We'd both very happily come back. João chatted with us abit, and told us about the history of the restaurant. I can't reiterate enough just how welcome we were made to feel. We both really felt like we'd gone to see a long lost cousin. Thankyou so much João and your family for a lovely meal. If you're looking for authentic Portuguese food in welcoming relaxed environment you must come here. We would...
Read moreIt was a dream that came true to eat in a place like O Pina. The food is made and served by kind wonderful family . A family that wakes up early in the morning goes to the market to get everything fresh ( the fish is from a local fisherman who just came back from his morning fishing trip in the Atlantic Ocean 😊 the Sardines of the Atlantic are irresistible 😋, the vegetables and chickens are from a local farmer. It is simple, fresh cooked perfectly and delicious ( taste love, kindness and home) There you don’t expect a menu, just ask the sweet ladies there what have you cooked today ?😊 There you would be surprised of how little you pay for a high quality authentic traditional food however you pay nothing for love , kindness and hearty hospitality. It was really special culinary overwhelming experience...
