THIS is our new favourite place!! We found Café Ingles when we visited Silves in June '25. It was a pure treat to find the café on the steps leading up to the Castle. A band was playing on a Sunday afternoon... an outside seat, nice breeze, shady trees... an' imperial' and a Dry Martini & lemonade in a tall cocktail glass. This visit made such an impression on us. We couldn't wait to return!
Came back to Portugal in September '25 - and thought that this time, we'd have dinner, then stay for the Saturday night band. We chose the Lamb Bourguignon, with mash & roast veg... and the Sea Bass with Citrus Cous Cous (and a huge side salad). Both were amazing!! Our compliments to the chef/s!! 👨🏻🍳💜👨🏽🍳 The band on the 20th September was Trio Atlantico.... "World Music". Two hours of funky guitar, drums & Bongos. Music from many Portuguese influences. (8.pm start). Then we went back today.. to have drinks, and catch the Sunday 'covers' band (2pm stay). Today was "Yes, Mam"... 5 piece band, with a female lead singer. On both days the atmosphere was amazing. The staff, who wait on the tables, deserve a mention... they all get into the music, whizzing around, serving trays of food & drinks, and stopping to have a boogie with the customers. All hard working guys & gals... and very attentive to the customers needs. Regarding the cost - we had 2 really delicious dishes, with a litre of bottled water, a pint of Cider, a half pint of beer, 2 after dinner brandies (each being the size of a 'double'. In the UK, if not more). Then, 2 small black coffees and a larger coffee with milk. This cost us £48. Great Value!! Thanks Café Ingles... we'll be back in...
Read moreLooks lovely and has good vibe, but unfortunately i strictly cannot recommand that place. Today my wife got food poisoning for certain after eaiting sandwich/toast with smoked salmon. We travel in group of 3 with our kid and usually share meals. The salmon was the only food my wife ate today and none of the rest share and she's the only one with food poisoning symptoms- most likely scombrotoxin poisoning. I took only one bite of the fish to try it and as i remind now it was quite warm- probably it was stored inadequately, in too high temperature, causing bacterial overgrowth. Before leaving we encountered a confusing situation by payment with card. We made a 28EUR bill and wanted to pay and leave a tip with card- waitress claims she misheard and charged 45E instead of 35E. Luckily the manager solved the issue quickly and in polite, elegant way. Generally up to some point we had a good time and the food seemed ok. Later on we regreted the visit. I hope we just had bad luck today, yet storage of the fish (smoked salmon) shall be...
