Café Silves Castle — Local services in Silves

Surprisingly nice place in the Silves Castle! We ended up in the castle around lunch hour during our visit to Silves. Despite that the place looked quite touristy (I was initially very skeptical), the food turned out great. We had the flatbread sandwich and the orange cake. Both were very nice. The waiter was saying that they have a small herb garden so they use fresh herbs for most of their food. And also there is a retired chef who makes orange cakes as a passion and he delivers fresh orange cake to them every morning. It seems to be a nice cafe with great ambiance and quite since stories.

A great fancy Restaurant in a one of a kind petite Castle. Great and friendly Service. Very nice owner and staff who took time to adapt to our needs and enrich our experience. Must try the special drinks, we had the cucumber water and the home made orange blossom iced tea (one of a kind). The Muxama is a 2000 year old recepie which instantly turned to our favorite. We enjoyed a lovely lunch on the big terrace of the café situated inside the famous Castle of Silves. I loved the fact they offered home made ice-tea and lemonade. Really enjoyed the fresh Indian lemonade with cardamom and ginger.

I ordered a salad with dried tuna and shrimps. Healthy and very tasty. I was also a big fan of the traditional orange cake from the Algarve. A perfect way to end our lunch.
