Velho Oeste — Restaurant in Sintra

At one point this place happened to be one of my favorites. Their signature plate is/was the pulled pork. Lately, within the last 4 months, (October to December 2024) They began playing games with their clientele. In October 2024, I drove all the way from Lisbon to Sintra along with my wife and 3 other friends. The whole reason for going to the restaurant was to ofcourse eat their signature pulled pork sandwich. Upon ordering and finishing our first entries, a quesadilla, chilli and chicken tenders we were notified the pulled pork sandwich had ran out. The waiter was very apologetic once he saw our disappointment. I voiced my discontent and asked how come we were not advised of the issue before having ordered. Once again, the waiter apologized and we all just settled for ordering their version of a hotdog. Additionally, the waiter recommended for us to call ahead prior to driving to the restaurant to ensure all items on the menu are available for whenever we chose to come visit again. Today, 2 January 2025, I personally called the restaurant to ensure all items on the menu were available to include the pulled pork and was told all items on the menu were available. Once again, I drove from Lisbon to Sintra with my wife and friends and upon arrival were asked if we were all going to eat the lunch menu and we all said yes. Shortly upon ordering we were notified by the waitress that the chilli beans and the pulled pork sandwich had ran out but we were welcome to order the other items on the menu to include a hotdog. For anyone reading this review I want you to know the food quality is descent when avaible but that has become an issue. To the management and the owners I recommend caring for your clientele and patrons and to get back to your business basics......

Food is authentic, fresh and very delicious. The atmosphere also inviting but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the staff and I have visited here twice and received the same bad service. Firstly, they put the phone down on you when calling to make a reservation on the weekends. I speak Portuguese and called again to be told they don’t do reservations on weekends. I suggested they tell people that rather than just putting down the phone when customers ask. When visiting Sunday, we ordered food and it couldn’t fit on the table and rather than making a plan, the waiter said it’s our problem to fix and we couldn’t use the table next door and no one was sitting there? This sort of bad attitude that really let down the whole experience and this will prevent me visiting again and I will miss the amazing food, but customer service is a key ingredient to any...

I don’t know if it was just today or what but the way I was pissed at my order. When I saw the pictures my mouth started watering. Asked for the shrimp and the birria tacos, as well as the empanaditas. The empanaditas were great, can’t lie (the only advise is that they put the sour cream on the side and not at the bottom of the box, because it arrived all soggy). But the tacos?
