Daiya Sushi Tavira — Restaurant in Tavira

One very strange experience. We booked this restaurant for a quiet sushi meal, but it wasn't exactly what we expected. The area is not very pleasant, behind a club. Obviously an extra area of that same club that the owner wants to monetize, nothing wrong with that On arrival one of the employees, a very nice but not very knowledgeable person took us to our table outside. There was loud "sunset party" music on the speakers. Only another couple on another table. My partner has some meal restrictions that we easily realize that couldn't be fulfilled. The music went louder, we gave up and left the restaurant without trying the sushi. Maybe good, maybe bad... But this is not the kind of place if you want a quiet...

Maybe the best meal of ours lives! We had the chef’s taster menu and it was incredible. Tonnes of dishes (definitely more than enough to eat) and it was all so fresh and tasty and creative. It was £43.50 each, which obviously isn’t the cheapest, but it was lovely. The waiters were really friendly and great to chat to as well.

3 things to be aware of: -It can be a bit tricky to find using Google maps - it’s just off the main bridge heading south. It’s then round the corner of the sandy car park. -The outdoor seating is currently closed and will open in the summer. -The toilets weren’t that nice, and could do with a refurb.

Great service, food, and atmosphere. Totally recommend the Chef’s Freestyle where you get a sample of all their rolls + some nice sashimi additions. Quite innovative selection too, so we loved the experience!

We came across this place as we were looking for lunch in Tavira, and found that Daiya was the highest ranked of those that were open. For a good reason! We called, and realized they were about to close, but Google Maps got us there right on time!
